Musclebound old freak loves Tony Hawk
It’s an advertisement disguised as Muscle & Health magazine. Check out the beanie and please don’t tell him I called him a freak. – Thanks to House of Neil for the tip. I guess he’s into… err… men’s health.
Corporate Death Coffee
Ronald McDonald shredding a miniramp on this glass coffee mug from a McDonalds in the United Arab Emirates. I didn’t even know that they had McDonalds in the UAE. This is exactly the kind of thing I usually buy, though not when it costs $20.
Mr Christies
Spotted in Vancouver B.C., Mr Christies mini Oreos. – Thanks to Stephen B for the pic.
We Are Blood Portland Premier
We Are Blood is a film by Ty Evans that celebrates “the universal bond created by the simple act of skateboarding.” In case you’re thinking you’ve heard and seen that before, this is the first skate feature shot in 4K ultra HD. The “massive sound and amazing visuals” were meant to be experienced in a theater. This is not your usual low rent screening of a skate video you might be accustomed to watching in aging arthouses an dingy brew and view theaters. Even Thrasher is impressed. If you can believe it, We are Blood is being screened at the Empirical Theater in the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. We are Blood screens on September 1st in the Empirical Theatre at OMSI (1945 SE Water Ave, Portland) Watch the trailer here.
Damo and Darren at the Skatepark
Hey kids, its a Damo and Darren cartoon! Episode 2 takes place at the skatepark. Good stuff from Michael Cusack. Audio track is NSFW.
Lunchables with Interweb Skateboard Kabobbles
A Lunchables print ad and some random Lunchables skateboard action on their web site from a year or so ago. In trying to link to the Lunchables Uploaded post with with Rob Dydrek, I realized I never posted anything about it. So.. yeah. Rob Dyrdek had a thing with Lunchables called Uploaded. It was a contest or a web site or a web series aggressively targeting 13-17 year olds, for the benefit of kid’s nutrition of course.
Extreme Harry Potter
Neil Gaiman’s Books of Magic: Timothy Hunter could be the most powerful magician in the world, but does he really want to be? Guided through the magical world starting at the begining of time by a group of DC Universe magicians, often refered to as the Trenchcoat Brigade (John Constantine, Phantom Stranger, Mister E, and Doctor Occult), they attempt to aid Timothy in his decision whether or not to embrace his gift. However, by the time Timothy makes a choice, it may have already been made for him. – Thanks to MC for the photo
Hanna Barbera: A Huckleberry of Magillas
I was trying to track down a better picture of some Hanna Barbera saftey cards from 1965 because one of them has the hapless Magilla Gorilla pulling a classic wilson. In the process I found Magilla skating in an uncredited image that looks like a still from a cartoon. Casting the net wider turned up a coloring book with Huckleberry Hound and Quickdraw McGraw doubling up on a longboard.
T Mobile Billboard
Phone companies love skateboarding. Might even be a real action photo and not a posed shot. What’s up with that claw hand? Somewhere in L.A.. – Thanks to Kilwag’s mom for the pic.
Charm TV
This is the cover of the 2015-2016 CharmTV sponsorship brochure. CharmTV is a local channel all about Baltimore, which explains why I found out about this via that Skatepark of Baltimore advocate Stephanie Murdock. And here I thought Simon Woodstock was living on the west coast.
