Sounds like an adult film of dubious nature, but its two commercials for shoes by Sketchers, the Airwalk of the new millennium. Ok, that’s not fair to Airwalk. There was another Sketchers Z-Strap commercial a year or so ago. Anyway, animated ninjas and sparkly girls shoes make me want to skate.
There are two versions of this Sharpie commercial playing right now. The gist is that Sharpies help you express yourself. What if you couldn’t express yourself? There would be no protests, passion, art…. or graffiti. You’ll notice they covered over the expressions spray painted on the bowl.
I found this on the Chase Jarvis blog after getting distracted while researching DIY steadicams. I thought to myself, “That sure looks like the Kent, Washington skatepark,” and I was right. This was a commercial shoot, but for what? At first I thought Chase Jarvis was the annoying dude in the video, but I think […]
I happened to catch this commercial on TV about an hour after the behind the scenes Spohn Ranch footage of the shoot was pulled from YouTube. My guess it the folks at EA didn’t want it detracting from the original, or something vague like that. – Thanks to Vince for the tip.

We’re now officially in the midst of an annoying trend in which toy commercials are promoting other activities besides skating at skateparks. There have been at least two or three, as well as a cheese commercial with RC cars. This one is for the Yo Be, something that looks like a cross between a frisbee […]
I caught this commercial last night. I was making a note to look for it back at home, but it turned out to be a Florida-only thing. The cause is Tobacco Free Florida. Hey, I’m on your side, but this sad sack staring at me almost makes me want to take up smoking. Florida locals, […]
This gem of a commercial is an adolescent boy’s smorgasbord of dreams. It’s got skateboards, lasers, ATVs, a post apocalyptic Rollerball-style arena and a referee with a big rack. Come to think of it, that sounds like fun to me too. I think it dates to around 1987 because Worlds of Wonder essentially went out […]
