PBR? No, PBF on Skate Churches
The Perry Bible Fellowship is a weird little comic. Rather than do any of the work myself (Far Side on bad acid-Oops!), here’s what Publishers Weekly has to say:
Despite its name, the comic has little to do with Christianity, save the occasional strips blending the religious and the profane. With an artistic style that can vary dramatically from strip to strip, the weekly comic explores “the concept of foolhardy notions incurring terrible, unexpected outcomes” through the lens of Gurewitch’s distinctive humor, described by turns as twisted, cerebral and sweet.
The frames above are three out of four of the Perry Bible Fellowship comic titled Preach Skate. Make sure you hit the link to see the punchline.

Giving back to the community?
When he’s not busy dethroning Enemy Combatant (who dethroned Neil) as most hated commenter (Actually, EC must have graduated from charm school lately.) Colin Walsh (He rules, you know!) is sending me pics of this mystery hole in Oregon and trying to get me to plug the Benton County Skateboarding Alliance, Inc. who are “trying to get $$$$$$$ for a better park in the cor.” Enlargements after the jump.
O Face, bad kind
“Revolutionary skateboard breaks all the rules! The OBOARD!”
The OBoard, as in “Oh crap, I just wasted $131.95!” or “Oh no! Look what I’m riding!” You can fill in the rest yourself. They got a streetskater with some skills to do the demo too. You haven’t seen so many neear tic-tacks since the 70’s.
Riders on a Math Mission
Sure, it’s got nice packaging, fancy electronics and a marketing campaign to back it up, but I bet this Math Mission game for the Leaptster Learning Game System isn’t nearly half as gnar as Radical Mathematical.
Burton buys DNA – Alien Workshop and Habitat
From the Burton web site:
DNA Distribution, which includes skateboarding brands Alien Workshop, Habitat and Reflex, today announced that the company has been acquired by Burton…
“We are very excited to bring the DNA family of brands to Burton – a company that we truly respect,” says Chris Carter, Chief Executive Officer for DNA Distribution. “Burton clearly leads their market in terms of team, innovation, marketing and values. Joe, Mike and I look forward to leveraging Burton’s strengths to reach the full potential for the DNA brands: Alien Workshop, Habitat and Reflex.”

…and the Little People Asian Boy who rides it.
Up for auction we have rare and hard to find Fisher Price Skateboard and the Little People Asian Boy who rides it.
Fisher-Price Little People are an iconic toy. They started out being constructed entirely out of wood in 1960, eventually adding plastic bits and ultimately ended up being molded out of plastic completely until they were discontinued in 1990. In 1997 Fisher-Price revamped the Little People. Although they are highly detailed injection molded pieces, (seen above on the right) they are ironically somehow more generic looking than the very simple original versions. The classic little people had a school play set in the late 80’s that came with a skateboard toy for the kids to ride. It looks like it has bindings (kook!) but surely is less painful to ride than the new version that is more akin to a butt plug.
Ryan Sheckler tours with Winger
Yes, I paid $2.99 to make fun of Ryan Sheckler, so who is the bigger loser? Me, by most standards. Sheckler makes no less than two appearances in the February 2008 issue of Seventeen Magazine, and they’ve even got an online extra.
Killer skate vids and wheelchair ramps
Another huge moneymaking plan that someone else beat me to the punch on. I guess I’d better get moving on my 900 phone-skating number. Secrets of Skateboarding wants your email address, which they swear will not be sold or misused, and you gotta believe them. If you cough up your email (or any email) you can get access to the page where you get the scoop on Tony Waters’ success plan (He studied Tony Robbins!) for becoming a kickass skater. Revealed… An effective technique to improve at skateboarding without actually skating. Although the secrets apparently fit in a software box, if you buy now you’ll also get a chance to download for free, How to Shoot a Killer Skate Video. Here’s a free tip from me – Step one: Ditch the VHS camera. Then there’s what looks like the wheelchair access version of Professional Ramp Plans. How much will all this bounty cost you? Only $27, and they’ve got an affiliate program too! I need to get signed up for that. Who is Tony Waters? One Clue: “Underground Skater Finally Comes Out!” He’s still a little shy, as he only appears in one small photo wearing sunglasses in front of his mom’s garage in the suburbs. Speaking of techniques for improving your skateboarding without actually skating, some crazy fool is giving away his tips for success! Check out the video for How to be awesome at skateboarding after the jump. – Thanks to Griptape Flip and others for the tip.
