There was a little leftover concrete and rebar from the Notre Dame de L’ile Perrot addition that Kevin Cann was working on. Fortunately, he had previously made a mold for a parking block, and had it ready to go. Kevin is really excited to have some famous Tedder Stone on order for the new bowl, and who knows, maybe Kevin will become famous for his parking blocks!

Cory Woods is premiering his long-filming video titled Time Lapsed on Friday, October 29th at the Academy Theater in Portland. Showtime is 8:30 and admission is $3. Trailer after the jump.

Big Halloween bash this year at Burnside. Should be bigger than usual considering it’s the 20 year anniversary. Like Jay Meer says, pray for dry weather. Dashboard is actually showing 59 degrees, partly cloudy and dry. Let’s hope it holds. Anybody help out with the pour yesterday? That is, if the lights and yesterdays crew lasted long enough. Grover had his camera in tow again, and he even managed to unearth the long lost relative of the Caddy Shack gopher, Benny the Burnside Rat.

There’s a web site called Vintage Portland that is dedicated to presenting historical images of Portland from various sources in one place. It’s just pictures and maps without a lot of explanation or pontificating. There’s not much to say except this photo is SW Portland circa 1965. Two kids bombing a hill on clay wheels. Awesome. I found this video linked from MiamiSkaters.com. Miami skaters just avoided a near disaster with an RFP for a new skatepark that was being railroaded in. There was a mandatory prefab clause and a semi-secret last minute proposal deadline that ruled out all but Spohn Ranch and American Ramp Company. Skateparks bids get rigged all the time. It’s no shocker, although usually it’s one company that’s put in all the groundwork where no momentum previously existed instead of whispering in the right politicians ears. I don’t claim to know what went on behind the scenes in Miami, but here’s a video showing the level of quality in one ARC built skatepark that’s just six years old.

My friend Mike Timble wilsoned his skateboard under a bus once, but this was the 80’s and he had an Uncle Wiggley argyle deck with an epoxy layer in it. It bent to the ground and popped right up, no worse for the wear. Such was not the case for Rod Evans. Max Headroom had an entry to win a weirdo and now we have pictures to go with the story.
