Dude! That was totally decent!
Oh how I long for the days when you could impress your half shirt and bell bottom wearing girlfriend by high jumping over your MG while wearing a hockey helmet. Check out the full advert after the jump.
This MG print ad dates to 1977. The spillway or damn or whatever it is called has to be single most photographed and filmed location in the history of American automobile advertisements. They’re still shooting there today. Check it out, she’s sitting in the passenger seat. This guy’s trying to poach someone’s girlfriend. Stunt rider’s name anyone? MG ran a couple of these high jump ads. Click to enlarge.
It’s a lady with appliances!
Dennis Schufeld (sp?)???
Can she cook?
Ty Page?
Ty starred in several commercials, including Sunny Delight, Wendy’s, and MG cars. (So his myspaz says)
Could it be Mr Incredible?
leaning dude and leaping dude are not the same people
This is me (Bryan Beardsley) in 1977 for MG Midget ad. Same dude jumping and standing…
Were you the only one doing the trick ? On all the pictures, Mark and Ty are only jumping from one board to a static board. Where you are landing on the same board.
Yes..I used only one board. Ty and Mark were my teammates. Good times!
My first helmet was a Cooper 100 hockey helmet back in 76. The “good” kids had Norcon helmets. Only groms had the Coopers. If you’d taken a spill the helmet probably wouldn’t have helped at all.
Actually, recent pics of Duane Peters show him sporting the Cooper 100 helmet again. Or maybe it’s a modern helmet designed to look like the classic Cooper 100.
That’s Brian Beardsley, of the same free former team as Ty Page. I remember seeing that ad when it came out. See this as well, about 1/3 of the way down is Brian w/ Ty and Mark Bowden:

Who knows what has become of poor Mark Bowden after his accident at Akron with the Free Former skatecar in 1978 (or was it 79 ?) ?
Mark is doing fine. He has a successful business, married and very happy! I’m kind of like his big sister, but really, I’m Ty Page’s sister. Ty & Mark have been friends since they were about 4 or 5 years old & still remain best friends.
