A commercial a day – Day 2: Nissan & Danny Way

A lot of commercials featuring skateboarders have been popping up lately. Yesterday I posted the CarMax advert, so starting today I’m going to see how long I can keep it going. Nissan has a fetish for skateboards. Here’s a commercial featuring Danny Way for another Nissan vehicle.

I’m not positively sure what “spec” means, but I think it might mean that Nissan didn’t ask for it, or didn’t pay for it, didn’t air it, or some combination. I guess I could ask Todd Grossman. Does it really count if it never aired? I say yes, as long as it was considered or produced by the marketing machine, and not just some guy with a camera and computer.

Listen to the drawl in the voiceover when he says “style.” I don’t know why, but I find it amusing. Especially since danny doesn’t look very stylish in full safety gear and stance as he he is being towed into the jump. In the air? Yes. On the ground, not so much.
