Björn Holm of Finland made a surfboard out of recycled skateboards. It’s the shell only so it’s probably not as heavy as it looks. I cracked up after watching the video, it’s almost like a SNL Digital Short. Everything is so serious, and there’s all the ice, and all of the sudden it’s over and the poor guy hasn’t even gotten to ride it yet.

Finland is not the best place for surfing thats for sure!
we get a couple of good waves per year.
I have had one day of surfing since the board was ready. Before that the ocean was frozen. I took it out that day to test it, and it worked really good! It is not heavy at all, stable in the water and easy to paddle. I got couple of waves and it felt like any other board in my opinion.
We are planning to make a short video later when we get waves, so you can see how it works in the water.

I’m no kind of surfer, though I have dabbled. Mostly just stoked to see people building stuff, and following their ideas.
The only thing cooler than a massive flaming failure is a massive flaming success. And the line that seperates them is often thinner than the proverbial red-hair.
