In the US, Carhartt means overalls and heavy work jackets. For some reason in Europe it menas skateboarding. Here’s a commercial featuring Carhatt team rider Phil Zwijsen who hails from Antwerp, belgium but has been seen stateside as well.

Yeah it’s odd that he skates for Carhartt, a brand synonymous with big trucks and chew. But whatever. Kid kills it.

Over here in Europe,we are totally not bothered by the rough/heavy work image you are talking about.
For ‘us’, Carhartt=t-shirts,sweaters and,yes a few cargo pants (but mostly jeans).
