I have a board I set up specifically for rain, we used to do that here in the 80s.
I just can’t skate too fast when I ride it at a skatepark, even 78a wheels lose grip if you turn too fast at Battle Ground when it’s wet.
..or the brick sidewalks in downtown Portland, for that matter.
But yeah, a *bowl* in the rain seems like a bad idea, unless it’s asphalt or something.
got chased outa glenhaven by the rain. Then got caught up watching that bacon vid “unheard” online on my laptop at cafe extracto(thanks colin!). I was wondering if pier was dry?! With those new 187 knee pads I just got that actually fit right I probably dont have any more excuses for avoiding the big full pipe bowl at pier park.
Over here in the mitten, I just drove by the nearest outdoor city park. It’s full of snow, but in the parking lot were three young ones taking advantage of dry flatground…
there’s always the temptation to take that one more run as the first drops dot the concrete… (i’m now smart enough to decline, unless it’s a really fun session)
My car is loaded up with all supplies at all times. I’ve had weeks where it has rained every day and I still got a chance to skate all those days. Sometimes you’ve got to move fast. I’ve dried out a lot of places and then had it start raining as I’m about to drop in. Ahhh! Hate that! I’m sure it helps to have your own bowl though.

Hmmm. Maybe this is my week to check out pier. I’ve been to most of the parks around but not that one. The weather looks good this week.

Got a couple sweaty hours in at Pier. I needed short sleeves. It started raining as I left.

I used to squeegee the 40 foot wide Beaverton ramp every morning on my way to work so it would be dry by lunchtime, provided it didn’t rain again.

Nice animation on the last frame. Let’s see you do that in the print edition! Oh wait, you could do it flip book style… Anyway, looks cool.
