Saturday Starrs #11: 1978 Pepsi Commercial
This 1978 Pepsi commercial has everything; street skating (well, sidewalks), a dog on a longboard, hockey helmets, gorilla gips, flyouts, freestyle, soft volleyball kneepads, skateparks and more. Watch the video, courtesy of skate and surf film historian Scott Starr, after the jump.
the gorilla gripped 360 towards the end was awesome
somebody needs to find the CrackerJack commercial. that one was kill
I don’t recall what they were advertising, but there was a commercial (like 20 years ago?) where a spy/skater was fighting off a gang of ninja assassins on a small sailboat at night. He road the skate and proceeded to repel the attackers with a series of hand plants, ollies, and flips that always delivered the board into an assailant. I don’t think he ever flat out swung the board with his hand (too obvious) but the effect was that he was street skating across a small sailboat and using his skills to fight! Fun!
Anyone recall this? And is it on youtube?
pure brainwashing
the only drink i want after skating is either beer or coors light
Was that conahan?
hey dougdrill, i really like how you dont even consider coors light as a beer.
I think thats oliver the cousin from Brady Bunch.
Remember that Oliver (from the Brady Bunch) was also the main instigator on the episode of “CHiPs” where Ponch and John ripped it up at the skate-park at the end. So yeah, Robbie Rist (Oliver) skated (or at least did so on camera).
dig the toe-dragging
Here are some more interesting pictures:
