The White Buck Smith mentioned is an oddball of what is normally seen. 99.9% of the time they are stain finish with fluro colors. Not a floodcoat with the earthy colors as that one had. Very much not typical.
Buck Smith is an East Coast icon and viewed as such by a lot of people who have and still do skate with him. Still lives onthe east coast and rips to this day in a big way.
Still, your are very correct in it only taking 2 people to get the jack up on. In this case it was 3. Their loss.

That Alva Hosoi brings back the memories…it was my first real deck and only lasted a month. It was the only board I ever owned that was made of genuinely bad wood. Looking back on the balsa-like cheapness I can’t believe Alva would have let it out the door. This era of Alva wood perhaps the motive behind Love Canal’s “Greatest Sports Legends” ? Maybe.

WTF, I think I would be a millionare by now if I didn’t skate on any of my 80’s and 90’s decks; but then again I wouldn’t have had such a nice childhood…
But I do like to see them, thanx for this site.
