Skateboard Northwest from 1978

Dan Hughes’ Northwest Skater has an archive of the regional newsletter/zine Skateboard Northwest from 1978. Yes, that’s Mark Conahan on page three. Now that Dan has moved to Utah, will he change the name of his site? Did you know Dan is getting married? For those of you that know Dan, S&A obtained an exclusive sneak peak of the ceremony.

  3. You guys are too funny!

  4. Awesome! Best wedding topper ever.

  5. I always thought Dan should have his own bobble head. Congrats to Dan and June!

  6. One of the great riders in the article, Henry Koski, is my mailman. Great guy and for being tall and lanky, he did the best stretched out handplants that I had ever seen back in those days.

  7. For people that had never seen or ridden the old big Kennewick Pool (16ft deep) as shown in the picture above. It was larger than life. You would get speed wobbles just droping into the pool and you had to use a rope to help you get out.

  8. heard about that bowl for ever, looks sick.. when did it dissappear?

  9. That was actually the third issue of northwest skateborder, I was on the cover of the first or second issue, used to skate with Eric Gallison, Brian Macelravy, Rob Skala, Kyle Kinney, Jim Flick, And David G, Too cool to find this on the web, I was sitting right next to the photographer of those pics Eric taking my own photos. Started skating again 2 years ago, 51 and still ripping!

  10. Hey Jeff, let’s see some of those photos! editor @ skateandannoy . com

  11. will have to dig through a buttload of pics, then get them digitized, probally will take me awhile, but will be in touch since i know about this website now. Do you know the whereabouts of anyone I mentioned?

Greetings from NYC via Edmonds Washington- My name is Doug Anderson (face)
I rode (more as the younger kid) with Rob Skala and Eric Gallison and others in ’77-79.
Trying to reach the old bikefactory folks Eric Gallison…
    or Tom Raven too.
Looking for any old photos of Gallison’s ramp or any of the bikefactory gang skating.
I’d love to see some photos of the old WHITE FRONT bowl-
Not as rad as the pools, but certainly a piece in the pacific northwest skating timeline
    Also would like to find:
Leif Ayers, Tom Hanson, Glenn Hernandez.
    please get in touch…

If this is Tom “Bird” Raven from Lynnwood Bikefactory hope you are doing well. Thank you for teaching mme to lace bicycle wheels when I was a young kid who hung out at the shop too much. “Remember to always remove visual clutter”! LOL David Cononetz
