GVK# 19: The Skate Ghost

GVK#19: The Skate Ghost

So my buddy and I set on a search for the Skate Ghost along the Oregon coast, although we were one step behind actually sessioning with him, we did capture some of our own footage. Please contact me at this site if you actually see any skate ghost sessioning. Enjoy the show Peace Off Homies.

Oregon Trifecta Battle Ground Tobin’s Results.

Aw hell. After the Battle Ground pro event got rained out I went home, hung out with my wife, went to our block party (that I had a hall pass out of until the Battle Ground rain), gave my two year old a bath and then sat down and had a leisurely dinner with my wife while we watched a recorded episode of Entourage. I called Rich at EPM who was hanging out at Glenhaven to see if he was going, and got a few updates from Billy Runaway at Addict. While I was being family man, Tobin’s garage was raging. I had pretty much written it off as a major hassle, but I decided to call one last time. I got a text message as I was walking out the door that said the “Super Finals” had just started. Someone needs to explain to Dave Duncan what the word “finals” means, and that there is such a thing as a semifinals. I thought I’d give it a go anyway. Who knows, maybe they were also going to have Extreme™ Super Finals… I drove about 110 blocks in 12 minutes, and got there for the last three minutes and took this one lame photo through a window and over someone else’s shoulders. Good thing too, cause Benji Galloway ended up winning it. Second went to Josh “Screech” Sandoval and amazingly, third went to 12 year old Morgan Burgess from Lebanon Ohio!

Please go to the hospital

Please go to the hospital

Donavan came almost rode out of a couple of these whatever you call them, where he flies out of the shallow and pant his board on the back wall, then pops back into the bowl. Unfortunately, he hit his head pretty hard on his last attempt. The building had pretty much emptied out and not too many people saw it. He was having a hard time walking. His friends are planning on sticking with him and keeping him awake tonight. They say he won’t go to the hospital again without insurance. Hopefully he’ll be alright. Kids, wear a helmet and get insurance. Donavan, please go to the hospital.

Trifecta Pro Battleground at Tobin's

Trifecta Pro Battle Ground at Tobin’s

Battle Ground’s pro event is going down right now at Tobin’s house. I’m not sure if it’s still World Cup sanctioned, but that’s where it’s going down. It’s a non-spectator event. Even if you get in you can’t see through the wall of riders to take pictures, so I’m sitting this one out boys, with my condolences to Tobin’s wife on this Sunday evening… The picture above is from one of the dig sessions in 2005.

Triefecta Quick Pics – Battleground Pro Rained out

Pro contest was rained out, but the capsule dork session raged for about 10 minutes. That’s Jesse Nelson in the corner. Masters and women’s division squeaked in before the rain. I didn’t hear them announce the women’s results over the microphone for some reason, but the Masters came in Salba, Grover (!), Ngoho, Charnoski, and Buck Smith with the win. The pro contest may be going down at Glenhave and or Tobin’s house (no spectator’s obviously) as we speak, but there wasn’t much of a unified vision being presented, so I went home.

Vancouver graffitists suck

Help remove chimp feces at Vancouver
10 a.m. Monday August 13th!

If you have anything left after the Trifecta, the contractor plans to remove the latest round of graffiti from the new Extreme Sports Park at Pacific Community Park starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 13. They got several gallons of a graffiti removal product called “EnviroStrip” from the city of Vancouver that Grindline also used on the park once. It works very well and is environmentally friendly. You just paint it on, let it sit and pressure wash it off.

If anyone out there is interested in helping with this removal effort, and is available during this time, we would LOVE the help. There is a whole lot of paint to remove this time – on pretty much on every part of the park (I won’t post graffiti photos because it’s like getting up again isn’t it? I cobbled the above together from one of the photos.).

If you can make it, just show up at the park after 10 a.m. and ask for Steve Ambuehl. He will provide brushes, gloves, the product and the pressure washer. You just need to bring yourself, some drinking water, sunscreen (if it’s actually sunny), and comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting really dirty.

For more information, call Steve at 254-7056 or e-mail him at steve@thompsonbrosexcavating.com.

But can we skate when we’re done with the cleanup?
