A “must” accessory for every skater! It’s the skateboard horn! Push the button, make the horn warn.
Not a lot is known about this skateboard horn, but it seems to be mid to late 70’s vintage. Turns out the UM-2 batteries are basically Japanese C-cells. I like that the person riding the skateboard is also wearing some sort of safety monitor or crossing guard sash. Good stuff.

This is not going to be a trend here… or maybe it is. This rad dude with a bitichin’ ‘tude was spotted on TV during an MLS match between Sporting Kansas City and LAFC. Soccer and Skateboarding crossovers are the sport of the future. He looks like Clint Dempsey.
HUGE NEWS that Lionel Messi is coming to MLS and joining Miami FC. How huge is it? Even the skateboarding sites are talking about it. OK, this one is at least. How bizarre is it that the world’s most famous sport celebrity is wearing a skateboard related shirt on TV during an interview? Well it turns out it’s a lot less bizarre than I thought, now that I’ve learned it’s a Louis Vuitton shirt that somehow slipped under the S&A radar. Let’s talk about how bizarre that is… Louis Vuitton designers capitalizing on a Tony Hawk / Berrics bit. I don’t know how much it cost when it was released but you can buy them on the collector’s market for around $1,500, or $20 on the knockoff market. Am I missing something? is there a reason they used the Icee bear typeface? Make your own if you want.
“All life is a blur of republicans and meat!” is a a well loved saying by Zippy the Pinhead. This particular rendition of it is uncharacteristically clumsy from whoever worked on the layout for this postcard in Bill Griffith’s online merch store.
This house in the Westover Hills neighborhood of Fort Worth Texas was designed and built for Charles Nash III, the founder of Nash Skateboards, and yet somehow there are no transitions in this pool.

P.S. Thanks for adding me to the group. I just found this former skateboard exec’s property at an open house, can you tell me what it’s worth?
This is Laugh comics #16 from the second Laugh series that ran between 1987-1991. It looks to be a bit of a sendup on the movie 9-5 but that was released in 1980 and the publication date of Laugh #16 is 1989. I suppose that movie could have been lingering in the pop culture zeitgeist almost a decade later. Then again, Archie comics aren’t really known for originality and they frequently re-use story lines. Everyone looks like a super 80’s yuppy in this flying jet powered skateboard story titled “Working Lass” and inexplicably does not take place in the future. Let’s read on and discover the answer to the age old question: What if Pop’s Pizza and Jet Skateboards were involved in a corporate merger?

Red Bull unleashes (get it??!!) a tired cliche in this recent TV commercial. You can teach an old dog new tricks.

This edition of Australian pro skateboarders and companies I did not know existed is brought to you by Ken Macleod, who posted a picture of a Ken Gibbons pro model. I tried to find something about it/him (Ken) and that led me to the photography of Chris Stroh, whose portfolio is primarily surfing, but also includes some 80’s era skateboarding. That’s Ken in the photo above, in the bowl at a place called “Five Dock,” circa 1986. Unfortunately, Ken was the victim of a hit-and-run and died in 2006. I scraped the web for more bits and pieces on Ken and Bonzer and managed to find a few items.

Charlie Brown’s All Stars! (CBAS) originally aired on June 8, 1966. I’m not sure if it ever made it to VHS, but the first DVD release I’m aware of was from 2009. While watching “It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown” over the weekend on Apple TV+ I dug around a little and found CBAS was available too. It looks like they remasters it for Apple TV, above and beyond the DVD release. It’s very clean, but there is an odd bit in a scene with Sally and Linus setting up a yard pool. Compared to other versions I’ve seen, the pair look like the attempt to make them look like they have a tan was a little overcooked. I can’t show you what it looks like because screen caps for DRM protected content are disabled on Apple TV. Snoopy does some great surfing before they segue to the sidewalk surfing for an extended segment around the 10 minute mark that includes the world’s first documented footage ollie! No sky hooks here.
