Tracker – Doug Schneider Gnarly

This is a pretty good ad for Tracker. Apparently Doug Schneider still rode really narrow trucks in 1979, or maybe he’s just posing with them for the ad. This ad definitely has an 80’s vibe despite being designed in 1979. Part of that may be due to the Blanco typeface they used, the same typeface that would be modified for use as the Thrasher logotype! You have to imagine that someone, either Fausto or Kevin Thatcher, saw this advert and filed it away in the back of his head. Thatcher is credited with designing the logo, but curiously didn’t go into much detail when asked about it in 2021.
