Perry Bible Fellowship

PBR? No, PBF on Skate Churches

The Perry Bible Fellowship is a weird little comic. Rather than do any of the work myself (Far Side on bad acid-Oops!), here’s what Publishers Weekly has to say: Despite its name, the comic has little to do with Christianity, save the occasional strips blending the religious and the profane. With an artistic style that can vary dramatically from strip to strip, the weekly comic explores “the concept of foolhardy notions incurring terrible, unexpected outcomes” through the lens of Gurewitch’s distinctive humor, described by turns as twisted, cerebral and sweet. The frames above are three out of four of the Perry Bible Fellowship comic titled Preach Skate. Make sure you hit the link to see the punchline. – Thanks to Don Gerard for the tip.

Secrets of Skateboarding

Killer skate vids and wheelchair ramps

Another huge moneymaking plan that someone else beat me to the punch on. I guess I’d better get moving on my 900 phone-skating number. Secrets of Skateboarding wants your email address, which they swear will not be sold or misused, and you gotta believe them. If you cough up your email (or any email) you can get access to the page where you get the scoop on Tony Waters’ success plan (He studied Tony Robbins!) for becoming a kickass skater. Revealed… An effective technique to improve at skateboarding without actually skating. Although the secrets apparently fit in a software box, if you buy now you’ll also get a chance to download for free, How to Shoot a Killer Skate Video. Here’s a free tip from me – Step one: Ditch the VHS camera. Then there’s what looks like the wheelchair access version of Professional Ramp Plans. How much will all this bounty cost you? Only $27, and they’ve got an affiliate program too! I need to get signed up for that. Who is Tony Waters? One Clue: “Underground Skater Finally Comes Out!” He’s still a little shy, as he only appears in one small photo wearing sunglasses in front of…

Max Schaaf magnets

Performance Enhancers

Unlike some people, Max Schaaf is a professional athlete who isn’t afraid to admit to using certain performance enhancers, namely magnets. I’m calling for a full Congressional inquiry. There’s nothing more important going on, right? [Source: DLXSF via Silverfish]

Patrick Melcher - Death video

Choose Death

The Death video parts that pop up on the Interwebs seem to get people talking. This Patrick Melcher spot is no exception. I thought he was on Black Label but apparently he chose Death, no matter how angry that makes Wham! (80’s time warp again, bad kind.) This video has something for everyone unless you are a humorless twat. Street, tranny, break dancing, rails and even slalom… I wish all video parts were like this one. I included the Richie Jackson spot at the end as well, just to jog your memory. – Thanks to JF for the tip.

Skate Witches

Skate Witches

I saw this video a few years ago on the web and completely forgot about it until it showed up again embedded in Kristian Svitak’s profile on the 1031 skates site. I don’t know who or when, but it’s good for a chuckle. The stunts are amazing!

The Nutcracker

Holiday classics: The Nutcracker

This poor kid may never be able to get wood again. Watch a skateboarding version of the Holiday classic, The Nutcracker after the jump. While you’re at it you can watch another kid narrowly and repeatedly avoid cracking his skull while attempting to skateboard on ice covered ramps and asphalt.

skull helmet

Helmet: Bad or bad ass?

This is for motorcycles, but why not skateboarders? I smell a potential Misfits Fiend Club marketing tie in. Why not? Jerry Only has whored out the name diversified themselves to shoes, purses, lunch boxes, pencils, Japanese bands and god (excuse me, Satan) knows what else. If you close your eyes you can almost see a scrawny kid with his black jeans (spray painted on) working on his flyouts in one of these. Check out the skull helmet at Santiago Chopper. Cheesy Lego skate vid

Skateboarding Bet is a short stop action animation made with Legos that look like they came from my set I had as a kid, considering you can get fancy skatepark Lego sets these days. It’s short. It’s here. You might as well watch it. You’re just here wasting time while at work, right?
