Two videos, one with a lot of skateboarding, one with about a half a second. The first one is for an Underworld song called Always loved a film. It expands on a concept where old guys act like teenagers. You may remember in 2007 we posted a commercial for something called 118 118 that was pretty much the same deal. It looks like one of the old guys still skates though, he’s not quite as old looking as the rest of them though, but maybe it’s the long hair. I feel like I should know who this guy is. The second is for a defunct outfit called These Animal Men. The song The Sound of the Youth has a great bombastic intro and about 14 frames of a plastic skateboard, in 1994 even. Watch them both, then imagine the first video track playing with the audio soundtrack of the second video. Oh wait, you don’t have to imagine it because I swapped it out myself and uploaded the mashup.

Did anybody see the 2005 remake of Bad News Bears? Anybody? Anybody? I wonder if there is any skateboarding in the movie. I believe skateboarding surpassed baseball in youth practitioner #’s some time in the new millennium, so nowadays if you want to be an individual and be a rebel, you gotta join an organized sports team.

The skull candy dudes put a post up somewhere claiming there were goodies in the trash, one person jumped in and scored some headphones, seconds latter every child under the age of 15 was knee deep in everyones trash hunting for goodies, some kid even got a complete out of the trash, some left with prizes others were not as lucky and probably contracted HEP C.

Anime director Satoshi Kon 1963-2010

I wasn’t able to make it to the Trifecata this year for the first time in… holy cow, I was there for seven years in a row. So not a bad run, yet I still felt guilty. Fortunately, the Trifecta somehow managed to go on without me, and Colin Walsh (Rules) was there in Lincoln City with his camera and sent some pictures in. Screw these Feeder guys. First off, their name too close to legendary punk band the Feederz. Remember the album Ever Feel Like Killing Your Boss? It was black with sandpaper glued to the outside cover so it would deface any other albums you put it next to. OK, strike one, your band name is too close to another infamous band. Strike two, you choose to make an album cover with a picture that is already a direct copy of another album cover. The cover of Feeder’s album Renegades is Basilio SIlva photo that was obviously copied from the Dwarves. The Feeders made a video with a topless girl in a ski mask. As much as I can appreciate a topless girl (spring break!) I’m predisposed to hate this.

I gotta believe this is coincidence. I’d love to claim inspiration, but I would think if someone got the idea from our zine they would have let us know. This was found in the mugshot section of the Smoking Gun. Don’t get any ideas, an S&A tattoo will get you absolutely nothing but my eternal bewilderment.

This site has been around for a while in one form another. I believe it started just selling DVD’s of old skate footage from the 80s. NOw it’s branched out to include more contlent like recent contest footage and interviews with noted Texans like Ken Fillion. Visit Texas Style Skateboarding and check out the trailers for Texas Style Two which seems to feature every notable Texan from back in the day as well as everyone who travelled through it.
