Skate and Annoy: Daily
Creative Miscellany
I understand the concept behind angled shelves. There’s no reason they absolutely have to be parallel to the ground to hold things. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a lot (or any) big empty walls and extra room to hold odds and ends. I’m hoarder and I need more efficient use of space for storage, so these type of arrangements never appeal to me, no matter how artfully done they might be. This looks forced to me, and yes, everyone’s a critic. See Taylor Hamilton for more. [Source: Shelterness] – Thanks to Boy for the tip.
X Games Art
A guy in South Africa of all places was commissioned to illustrate different events for the 2011 X Games. I don’t know why I’m surprised. If guys in India can do our programming, guys in South Africa can certainly illustrate the X Games. Check out Jordan Metcalf’s portfolio. – Thanks to MC for the tip.
Uncle Tom’s toys
NO, this isn’t a picture of my closet, It’s actually a photo from Uncle Tom’s Toys. The web site full of nostalgia, a lot of which is for sale. The skateboard section has a lot of old favorites, some of which I have got in my own collection and haven’t gotten to documenting yet, plus a lot of items I hadn’t seen before. Check it out.
Drew Barrymore keepin’ it real
Drew Barrymore was photographed at a skatepark in Culver City, California for the February, 2012 issue of InStyle. Here she is yucking it up with one of the locals. Scans provided by what I have to assume is a 15 year old boy, at least judging by the rest of the pictures I’ve found tagged with Kroqjock. I coleotteri
This weird looking plastic skateboard comes from Italy, and it’s model or brand name is Ringo. I (obviously) like collecting weird little plastic skateboards, and this one is certainly worthy at an opening bid of US $6.47, but it’s the $40 in shipping that is making me pass. From the bottom it almost looks like a Makaha. Dai un’occhiata a questo articolo. – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip.
SOTW 4-23-12: Dane Brady
This week’s Shot of the Week is Dane Brady in downtown Portland, taken by Tom Bender. Nice. Very nice.
Off: Wiped Out.
From Friday’s disco we segue int the soothing sounds of Off! It’s Monday and I want to make sure everyone starts the work week “off” on the right foot. Skateboarding footage included, so its rad and relevant. [Source: Boardistan]
Kellee Patterson: Turn on the lights
The music in Kellee Patterson’s Turn on the lights has nothing to do with skateboarding. It’s pure 70’s disco soul, representative of the genre and when it came out, which was 1977. But checkout that rocket board! I’ve seen plastic six wheelers before, but never in that configuration. Now that I have a few other weird ones collecting dust in my basement I have a new unholy grail to search for. It might be difficult, considering I have no idea what that board is called. I do know approximately where to find that record though. My weekend is getting cluttered. – Thanks to Heath for the tip.
