Chris Chappell out of Louisville, KY put together a collection of glass skateboard deck reproductions based on his fondest memories of skateboarding in the 80’s for an art show called Glassics. Although they have the same concave and shapes as the originals, they are purely meant to be wall hangers. The decks themselves are typically a 1/4 inch thick to save weight, although he has done some that match the traditional thickness of a 7 ply deck. The graphics are painted and then fused into the glass at 1400 degrees. Some of them have lights behind them as well. These works are not for sale, but he does have a website where you can commission a reproduction of your own design. If you’re keeping track, this is the second post about glass skateboards.

Part of their Renegades series, this is original content from Playboy Magazine, which seems to be trying to reinforce itself as lifestyle guide for aspiring, hip, professional men, just as it did in the 60’s. Happy New Year to all you readers and supporters of Skate and Annoy. In the past, I’ve made promises about enhancements coming to to the site, some lofty, some vague. This year however, I am promising more of the same old shit. This photo of a sofa or bed or whatever in the bottom of the bowl was texted to me way back in 2012 as part of a group message, and I have no idea who it is from. You might also notice that this “Happy New Year” post was made on January 5th. I promise to keep up the same excellent standard of reporting on skateboard culture in 2015.

This commercial for the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander GTV features two interesting things; A mother nagging her son to wear his helmet and a soundtrack by The Faction! I would have been more amazed by this had it not been for the fact that bands like the Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols, and the Buzzcocks have already appeared (via soundtrack) in commercials.
