First Bart Simpson ruined prime time TV (and killed the Cosby Show) with his sassy mouth and disrespectful, underachieving attitude. Now he’s trying to ruin baseball too.Sporting equipment with pictures of people engaged in entirely different sports always amuses me. It’s like they are saying “Look, I know you don’t want to be doing this particular sport at this moment, but maybe you can imagine you’re doing the one in this picture instead.” In today’s fast paced world, it’s not enough to enjoy a single sport at a time.

Ha! Made you look! So, save your “Don’t do it” speeches. If you are going to geek out over shoes and skateboard toys, this Reese Forbes Nike SB figure would be your wet dream. He came with extra shoes and shoe boxes. I guess these are hard to come by. I don’t know when they were released, but there’s a set of two on eBay going for $195. Skateboarding really is dead! A disappointing marketing turnout for Valentine’s Day has been followed up with a similarly anemic skateboarding Easter. The Scooby-Doo extreme Easter baskets are nowhere to be seen this year, and so far the only thing I’ve found is a pocket skateboard game (Skate Jam) that is housed in the chassis of a VW hippie bus. I saw it with the rest of the easter paraphernalia at Target. For some reason they chose to market these with a few Easter Eggs on the packaging, which is odd. There’s nothing inherently Easter-ish about VW vans. Makes me think they will drop well below $6 in a few days. That rabbit is something I had laying around from the 80’s.

A skate photographer only gets a few lucky breaks in his or her life. (Actually, where are the female photogs?) All my time and effort has paid off now that I gained secret access to Danny Way’s training facility for his upcoming skateboard mega jump of the Luxor Hotel and Casino. When is an action figure not an action figure? When it’s life size, because then it’s a mannequin, or some sort of sex toy. Chalk this up to things I don’t understand, like sneaker fetishes. Coarse Toys makes some action figures, or collection figures? I don’t know what you are supposed to call them. Some of them are small (bottom row) but as you can see, some of them are life size. Creepy. See those shoes? Coarse “collaborates” with Vans. I’m not sure what that means, but I’m sure it involves some check writing. Check out Coarse Toys.

Sure, it’s got nice packaging, fancy electronics and a marketing campaign to back it up, but I bet this Math Mission game for the Leaptster Learning Game System isn’t nearly half as gnar as Radical Mathematical.

Up for auction we have rare and hard to find Fisher Price Skateboard and the Little People Asian Boy who rides it.

Fisher-Price Little People are an iconic toy. They started out being constructed entirely out of wood in 1960, eventually adding plastic bits and ultimately ended up being molded out of plastic completely until they were discontinued in 1990. In 1997 Fisher-Price revamped the Little People. Although they are highly detailed injection molded pieces, (seen above on the right) they are ironically somehow more generic looking than the very simple original versions. The classic little people had a school play set in the late 80’s that came with a skateboard toy for the kids to ride. It looks like it has bindings (kook!) but surely is less painful to ride than the new version that is more akin to a butt plug.

… are soon parted. While sifting through the surf and skate detritus at 4Q Conditioning the other day, I became obsessed with an old model of Rat Fink on a skateboard called Superfink. All of the sudden I needed one right away, despite the fact that I was completely not into monsters and hotrod stuff as a kid and preferred WWII airplane models. The original Superfink model came out in 1964, but was reissued by Revell in 2004. Ed Roth’s official site is out of stock, but I found one soon enough for $13 bucks. The vintage ones don’t appear to be showing up for sale anywhere, so I pulled the trigger and it showed up on my door step a few days later. As usual, I dissected and over-documented almost all the fun out of it. As a result, I’ve taken to adding the word “fink” to words whenever I can. “Fink” is such a cool word. Repeat it over and over in your head. If you don’t like it, then fink you!

Lego Shop item #9247 is a set of minifigures called Community Workers that includes what appears to be a guy in a speedo suit on a skateboard.

Whoah man, did you see that new Vans Finger Fracture skateboarding game for the iPhone? Well it’s not real. Vans has no official or unofficial involvement. It’s a concept only and there are no plans to develop it. One big tip off would be that the game screens are lifted from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Some of the gaming and gadget sites are all a buzz about it, but a quick email confirmed it’s just an entertaining idea now. Also entertaining, Borat must be writing the documentation that says “To make an Ollie…” There’s more concept pics after the jump.
