…with a side of Hamas
Appearing in various social media outlets of the Israeli Defense Forces. From the looks of that kid’s skateboard, it’s either Hamas or a sinister network of vintage skateboard collectors trying to drive up Ebay auction prices. – Thanks to Seth Levy for the tip.
Stacy Peralta on George Stroumboulopoulos
Almost 11 minutes of Stacy Peralta being interviewed by George Stroumboulopoulos. Well, 7 minutes once you get past the intro. Nothing earth shattering or new, for that matter, but not boring actually. Worth it just to watch the brief exchange about the Hollywood and the Lords of Dogtown at around 9:30. BTW, there’s another round of Bones Brigade memorabilia/paraphernalia, most of it is sold out. [Source: Hypebeast]
Go Go Squeeze
GoGo Squeeze peach apple sauce in a tube. I get annoyed at my wife for buying this kind of over-packaged landfill, until she reminds me that our kids are both going to be astronauts, so they’d better get used to it. Also, my kids think the peach looks like a butt.
Friday T&A on S&A: Victoria’s Secret
Random Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel getting some in between shots for clothes geared towards, you know, getting some. [Source: Daily Mail] – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip.
Survey Says?
It sounds like one of MC’s comics but we have it from a reliable source that the following question recently appeared on a Family Feud episode: My mom told me one of the questions on family feud yesterday was, “Name something men keep doing even though they are too old.” She gloated in telling me a top answer was “skateboarding.” I looked for a vid to post to SnA, but, alas, found no residual evidence on the interwebby thingamabob. Guess I got take the old lady’s word for it. That’s Skate and Annoy gold, my friends. Please tell me someone recorded this! As for reliable sources, I guess a reader’s mom qualifies as respectable, even if the reader is kind of dodgy. – Thanks to Skidzilla for the tip.
Faberyayo – Zomer Aan De Wand
This week’s installment of Dutch hipster pop music is brought to you thanks to Matthijs, who claims he isn’t into this sort of thing, but then how else would he have found it? At least I’m spelling his name right this time. As for Jeebus, all I have to say is Faberyayo, Zomer Aan De Wand, and I don’t know what that means.
Give a Hoot
Woodsy Owl was/is the mascot of the US Forest Service. He had his own comic book from 1973-1976. Here he is getting down with some 8 wheeled action in issue #4 from 1973. There are no other skateboard stores inn this issue. [Source: Retrogasm]
Hows about a nice Hawaiian Punch?
Hawaiian Punch iron on transfer. The seller says it appears to be from the 80’s but that doesn’t look like 80’s era iron transfer technology to me. I’m thinking closer to mid to late 90’s. UPDATE: Added pics of an 80’s era Hawaiian Punch skateboard. UPDATED UPDATE: This board came up in discussion in the S&A Facebook group and coming back to this 2012 era post with 2012 era low res graphics was embarrassing. Added some better pics of the board from a 2021 auction. And because it was Josh Baker that brought it, up an image search also turned up his 2013 post of the t-shirt transfer that has much better pics.
Boy’s Life
Taking time off from their many pursuits like discriminating against homosexuals and covering up sexual abuse, the Boy Scouts of America have helpful tips for fixing slow skateboards. As a former Eagle Scout (Once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout!) I am seriously considering my options.
Bake and Destroy
The incident began before 9 p.m., when about 1,500 skaters and skate fans showed up to a theater that only holds 600 people to watch a free premiere of the skateboard movie, “Bake and Destroy.” At least NBC News knew what was going on. One site said it was 300 “protestors” who were mostly skateboarders, except they couldn’t say what they were protesting. That’s the left wing media for ya man, I’m voting for Reagan. – Tanks [sic.] to Evil Tom for the tip.
