Learn to draw with Phineas and Ferb

The Disney book Learn to Draw With Phineas and Ferb comes packaged with a random eraser in the shape of a character from the show. This particular pressing features Perry the platypus, who has appeared on a skateboard in the series. Someone must have “thought of the children” and decided to make sure he had a helmet on this time.

Seymour the Skateboard

Feed me (concrete) Seymour

When my kids were of a certain age, I watched a metric tonne of Yo Gabba Gabba, but somehow we missed this 2009 Story Time episode of Seymour the Skateboard, a little skateboard who didn’t know any tricks and had to go to skate school to learn them from an old school teacher. Seymour had a good posse, all encouragement an no heckling. Animation by Jake Armstrong. – Thanks to David Leclerc for the tip.

Punks and Posers

MTV’s Punks and Posers from a time (1985) when they actually played music videos, blah blah blah. I think this aired at 11:00 at night originally, I taped it to VHS when I should have been finishing my computer science homework. I watched the hell out of this. It’s Got the Dickies and GBH (yawn) but also a rare appearance by the band Plain Wrap, which I had completely forgotten about. I bought their album when I saw it at Record Swap, based on seeing this video. That vinyl still resides in my basement, need to dig it up. If you are at all familiar with 80’s LA Punk there should be a few other faces you recognize as well. Interviews talking about “punk”… so lame, yet so entertaining. There is some incidental skateboarding in the video as well, so it’s actually topical to this web site, and yes.. It’s a stretch. I was stoked to see this again after so many years.

snipers, CNN silicon valley skateboard

CNN Silicon Valley skateboard

At the 1:37 mark in this CNN video covering a sniper attack on a power relay station, there’s a shot of a reporter with an awkwardly placed skateboard on his desk featuring a CNN Silicon Valley graphic. Looks like a plant to me, but now the documentation has been documented.

Eddie Munster on a skateboard

It’s October, and Halloween approaches! Here’s Eddie Munster on a skateboard, in model form. I haven’t been able to find any information about this set. The seller claims it was built and professionally assembled and painted by an “award winning make up artist and painter.” There’s no information about the manufacturer or date, or whether it was actually a mass produced item or a custom one-off. Ironically, the biggest hit for “Eddie Munster on skateboard” turns up this t-shirt post on S&A. It’s been on eBay for a while. Priced at about $600, it’ll probably be there for a while longer, mystery award winning makeup artist be damned! Slightly alternate view after the jump.

Grandpa and Herman Munster

We’ve seen Eddie Munster on a skatebaord before, and now we can add Grandpa and Herman Munster to the list of super cool tough guys. This painting of Grandpa and Herman riding skateboards was found uncredited on Stumpahnds. I couldn’t find the original source, so if you know where it came from, please leave a comment. UPDATE: It’s a coloring book.

SK8 TV, while supplies last

UPDATE: This post dates back 2013 and a lot of the content and comments have to to with Skatemaster Tate (Gerry Hurtado) who didn’t really have an internet presence at the time. Gerry did eventually surface in the online skating world through social media (actually commenting on this site too) as well as having a skateboard released through Flood Control and a flexi-disc release in an issue of Pure Fun. Sadly, within a week of being diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer, he passed away on October 13th, 2015. I’ve been sitting on some recorded rebroadcasts of SK8 TV from around the turn of the millennium. I’ve been hesitant to post them online because I figured between Viacom and Stacy Peralta, I wasn’t in a hurry to get kicked off of Youtube again. In my head, these belong to the 80’s but according to IMDB, the first air date was in 1990. SrArcade has a channel and blog mostly dedicated to restoring and playing old video arcade games, but he’s also uploaded a healthy chunk of the old Nickelodeon show. There are 51 uploads to date, each a segment instead of a whole episode, but all of them are included in…
