Rolling mechanic
A little bit of street luge and a little bit of skateboarding, all in one Volvo commercial. [ Source: Seismic Facebook feed.] – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip.
McMiniramp
This one goes out to Colin. A German commercial for McDonalds. [Source: Buzzfeed] – Thanks to Andrew Wahl for the tip.
Quantum Media Watch
Our geriatric sources tell us Marginal Way will be closed today for a film crew shooting a commercial for vitamins. We’re so close this story it’s almost like being in the eye of the hurricane. Quantum physics tells us we can’t observe the phenomenon without affecting the results, so if we have someone inside the experiment all bets are off. I expect MC will be gathering plenty of fodder for future cartoons. Added bonus: The film crew has made a donation to Marginal Way. I only wish we’d known about it earlier so we could have sent a GVK media crew.
Mountain Dew Rush
We live in a world so extreme that, err… uh, different commercials for different.. planets I guess. It’s been a while since we’ve visited the car-as-skateboard theme, nay, archetype. Nope? Too soon. OK. – Thanks to… I can’t remember. I ‘ve been out of the loop for a while. Hit me up and I’ll add it.
Fruit Shoot Hydro
This Hydro commercial imitating a video game is a nice low tech complement to the high tech pinball game we saw earlier with the Mountain Dew setup. Not much for actual skating, but it is a great example of low budget creativity. In one section stuntman Alex Midler is riding one of those led boards. If your autism talent is remembering obscure skateboard marketing facts, you may remember Fruit Shoot put together a beginners skateboarding guide for the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts new (at the time) “Street Sports” merit badge back in 2008. Two versions of the Hydro commercial after the jump. – Thanks to Keith “method” Ayers for the tip.
Wanta Fanta
Fanta has a commercial spot with animated skateboarders in it. I don’t know if they’ve ditched the Fanta girls, but they are channeling pro skateboarders who are channeling punk rockers. I haven’t seen this one on the air yet, anybody else? – Thanks to Seth Levy for the tip.
Conduce la revolución
A Spanish commercial for an Italian car with an American pastime, from Dutch tipster. One and a half seconds of miniramp action. – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip.
Tony Hawk has Game
Tony Hawk is hosting the Hall of Game Awardsshow February 25th on Cartoon Network. It’s a mildly amusing commercial, but what’s really interesting is a weird segment that aired immediately afterward called Super Scooter Dog. It’s one weird looking dog riding a scooter that is way more entertaining than any dog on a scooter. There’s no explanation as to what it’s for, but I suspect it’s something related to Cartoon Network.
Ryan Sheckler for Bill My Parents
Prepaid credit cards with an obnoxious name of Bill My Parents, aimed at the teenage market. Who else but Ryan Sheckler would be the skateboarding spokesperson? Watch the commercial after the jump. UPDATE: And Rob Dyrdek too!
Bob Burnquist for Prius
Bob Burnquist with a sneak peak of the 2011 Toyata Prius. Honda, if you’re listening, I’ll gladly make a commercial in exchange for a Civic, Fit, motorcycle, lawn mower, boat engine or generator. I guess I’d even take a plane. [Source: Skate Curiosidade]
