Grindline in Laconner, Washington
This is a Grindline park in Laconner, Washington which is about a half an hour south of Bellingham. That’s Ted or possibly Fred on the backside boneless which was in fact a make, according to regular contributor John Aguilar. -Thanks! I saw pictures of a new Grindline park in Atlanta, GA (mainly in the street sections) that looked like it had some elements of a new direction for Grindline. Hard to tell from the tiny pictures though. Any of our Hotlanta readers want to scout it out?
Please snake me.
These pictures of the Team Pain park in Arvada, Colorado are already a couple weeks old. Hell, it might even be done by now. Snake runs please me.
Frankie, Frankie, Frankie…
There’s a Frankie Hill interview of sorts over at Whatit.be. The ESL grammar is a bit distracting at times, but if you dig/dug Frankie Hill this is the latest bit out there, unless you head to Legion Skateboards. [Board Graphic: Vaskateboards.com]
Legacy in South Africa
The Maloof Money Cup is leaving permanent skate structures on each stop of their tour. This facility is scheduled to be built in South Africa by California Ramp Works. The mini mega ramp isn’t going to stay, but the vert ramp and street course will remain. Interestingly enough, I recently heard from a contract employee of the Maloof Money Cup that they let a bunch of people go due to an alleged… money shortage. True or not, this is some good news for the South African scene. Between skatepark donations and alternative construction methods, this is like the arms race of arena skatepark extravaganzas.
For Sale: Skateboard screens
Four screens used for printing skateboards, stretched with 225 count nylon mesh at 10 Newtons. The screen in the picture was actually used to make the board on the left. These things cost $55 new, I am selling them for $30 a piece or four for $100. They are all in very good condition. I’m unloading them because I’ve moved to aluminum frames that have slightly different dimensions and these no longer fit in my drying racks. Contact: info at coldwarskateboards dot com.
Reader Mail: Fogtown
I ran across you site through a google search for Fogtown skateboards; landing on your 2007 eBay post. I thought it funny that you mentioned seeing the ads in Thrasher and not knowing anyone who owned one. The attached shot is me (and friends) from around 1987 holding my Beast. I didn’t know at the time how scarce they were, nor did I know anyone else with one. Unfortunately, it went the way of so many decks; snapped on a bad landing while ollie-ing off the back of my brother’s ’77 Suburban. Love the shirt on the guy in the middle. – Thanks to Darrell for writing in.
SOTW 9-5-11: Jeff Taylor
This week’s Shot of the Week is a Micah Breshears photo of Jeff Taylor taken at John’s Bowl in Albany Oregon. Check out the Shot of the Week.
Sideways Sponsor Luv
Midwest tour from Lifeblood Skateboards. These guys are rulers. Check it out, let them crash on your couch. The per diem is pretty slim. Technically not a sponsor of the site, but have I mentioned how much I like Johnny Turgesen? And Midwest uber alles.
Underwater rimes
For some reason this picture of Grover (somewhere on the east coast) made me think of the Digital Underground song Underwater Rimes [sic], probably the blueish cast it had before I adjusted the levels. Bonus?
SOTW 8-29-11: Cameron Schafer
The Shot of the Week is Cameron Schafer with a kgrind 180 out as captured by Joe Stevens. It looks much better in enlarge-o-rama.
