Not exactly reader DIY, but still in the same spirit. I’ve got nothing against plywood, but these days it seems like more and more people are opting for concrete. I mean, it seems that way to me, but maybe that’s because I live in Portland. Ok, not fair, it’s definitely part of a larger trend. Listen, I’ve been churning this stuff out for three years now. Blah, blah, blah. Nothing interesting to say. Check out Jocelyn’s new driveway. I guess she needed to have her driveway redone anyway, so she decided to turn part of it into a miniramp. If you’re jealous, well.. we are entering the raining season.. The pictures start off level and well framed, but as more and more progress its made the horizons start to shift and the composition gets awkward. It’s almost like she was having a hard time containing her excitement. Jocelyn’s last name withheld to prevent excessive doorbell ringing.

I’ve seen a lot of indoor ramps over the years, but nothing quite compares to this bowled in living room. I especially like the diving board painted in persepctive on the back wall. I was excited to get an invitation to join Wally Inouye, Chris Strople, and Bryce Kanights on a four day trip to the Treasure State. Wally and Strople were childhood heroes of mine and I have been meaning to get up to check out the Montana skateparks for the last several years. Read the story at Antigravity Press

You know a scene is pretty healthy if there are not one, but two private warehouse skate situations. Joining the Hiawatha is something called OTC. The Old Timer’s Club has about 16 guys, all with families and a median age of 34. They’ve been working on getting this thing going since last spring, and now the coping has just been welded on. In case you are wondering (because I was…) : We had a pipe bending company come in and measure it, then we welded it. It took some doing, some massaging, but it was pretty close to perfect from the factory. So add the OTC to the Hiawatha and something called the the root beer barrel (?), as well as the public facility known as 3rd Lair. One man’s discarded toy is the best thing that ever happened to another little kid. MC origianlly had plans to have some sort of mega session with people over at his place skating the new bowl and the old miniramp, but he got over that idea sometime shortly after the coping was set. The more deck he poured, the more irrelevant the miniramp became. Now it’s leaving the H.O.M.O.S. compound and relocating to GVK headquarters. We had a lot of fun on that miniramp, and I’m sure it will be a lot of fun a t Grover’s house when it gets reincarnated, provided it doesn’t get reincarnated as a stack of rotting wood that never got assembled in his back yard.

I should have titled this “Well, who doesn’t?” after the shot above. Anything I would write about it wouldn’t be as clever as what Adam (last name withheld, because his coworkers spy on him) sent: Digging the site as always. Helps out at work like you would not believe. I try to explain what I am looking at to my co workers and they are befuddled. My new apt. has a garage that is too small for my Wagoneer, but big enough for a micro mini. Enclosed are some pics of the construction in what I refer to as my MAN CAVE, then the christmas sweater party last year that had a couple of my sk8 buddies at to woo the guests.
