Doppelgangers of the Oregon Trifecta
Skate and Annoy’s pro contest coverage of the rained out Battle Ground Washington leg of the Oregon Trifecta that was moved to Tobin’s backyard bowl in Portland (Whew!) comes from Shawn Reinert. I don’t think Tobin envisioned this when he built his bowl. Talk about stoked! These two pics are some of Shawn’s longer exposures that picked up flashes from the other multiple cameras present, and the results are strange. Old expanding sponge head on the left is Donovan Rice. The lien-to-tail on the six wheeled skateboard is Josh Sandoval. More weird shit and conventional pictures as well in the feature. Check out: 2007 Oregon Trifecta – Tobin’s Bowl
Trifecta overkill day three: Battle Ground (WA?)
What? You didn’t know that Battle Ground, Washington is located in Oregon? Well don’t tell anyone. Yes, the pro event got rained out and moved to Tobin’s bowl, but no, it’s not covered in this feature. It’s coming Monday. Until then you can check out the Women’s and Master’s event coverage with a little bit of the warmups for the locals and pros. That’s Jesse Nelson entertaining the crowd during the rain delay. Thanks to Shawn Reinert for the extra photos that don’t match the color balance or exposures of mine in the slightest. What can I say, I just want to make Jim Gray happy. Trifecta overkill day two: Portland’s Pier Park
Yes, some sick skating went down at Portland’s Pier Park that truly left the crowd dumbfounded. Day two of our Oregon Trifecta overkill coverage is up. Check out: 2007 Oregon Trifecta – Portland’s Pier Park.
Trifecta overkill day one: Lincoln City
Well here it is finally, the first of way too many pictures of the Oregon Trifecta. This is Lincoln City coverage. It’s a lot to digest. There are a lot of pictures included that probably shouldn’t have made the cut, but we figure people want to see more and not less. Right? They don’t all have to be Kodak moments if it’s someone you know. If you find it overwhelming then maybe you should wait for our “Best Of Gallery.” Until then, enjoy! Delayed
That’s right, we’re pushing back our coverage a day. The pics are sorted and the coding is done, but I want to try and track down some names and polish it up a little instead of rushing it out. Look for it mid-day on Wednesday. I’ll tell you though, I’m about Trifecta-ed out by now. Anyone else? That’s Benji Galloway Kevin Kowalski peaking out below his knee.
First out of the gate.
The Skateboard Archives beat us to the punch with four pages of Lincoln City Trifecta pictures, including incidentals like this shot of Choppy Omega, Duane Peters and Ben Schroeder, which is a nice touch. Do those guys wave to their mothers with that finger?
Triefecta Quick Pics – Battleground Pro Rained out
Pro contest was rained out, but the capsule dork session raged for about 10 minutes. That’s Jesse Nelson in the corner. Masters and women’s division squeaked in before the rain. I didn’t hear them announce the women’s results over the microphone for some reason, but the Masters came in Salba, Grover (!), Ngoho, Charnoski, and Buck Smith with the win. The pro contest may be going down at Glenhave and or Tobin’s house (no spectator’s obviously) as we speak, but there wasn’t much of a unified vision being presented, so I went home.
Triefecta Quick Pics – Masters 1st Place at Pier Park
Masters Division 1st Place: Glen Charnoski. Photographers were thick as flies. I had to take this on from overhead to be able to get anything.
Triefecta Quick Pics – Masters 3rd Place at Pier Park
Masters Division 3rd Place: Buck Smith. (Yeah, I know his foot is amputated, but the other good shot I got of him was an invert and I didn’t want to use it.)
2007 Oregon Trifecta – Pier Park results
Pro results: 1st place: Rune Glifberg. 2nd place: Sergie Ventura. 3rd place: Benji Galloway. Masters: 1st place: Glen Charnoski. 2nd: Steve Alba. 3rd place: Buck Smith. Ladies: 1st place: Julie Kindstrom. 2nd: Jessica Starkweather. 3rd place Holly Lyons. Local Shane Bell (who placed 15th overall) was the second person to make it over the door today, and third person ever! The first two were pros, by the way. (Peter Hewitt months ago and Steve Alba during the Trifecta Grand Masters earlier in the day – C ed) He made his backside, and pulled it off a couple times today, twice in a row even. Rune Glifberg was the third person to make it over the door Saturday. He made it a handful of times as well, both front side and backside. Benji Galloway also made it over, backside as well. I got this one posted an hour earlier tonight. I even took time off to put my kid to bed, eat dinner with my wife and watch part of a movie. That’s right. I’m a family man.
