IPS and Osiris Presents “Feed The Need” NW Event Superpost
Tom and Kathryn Inouye know how to throw a video premiere. First they put in phone calls to Corey Duffel (who is recovering from a fractured leg) and invited him up for a weekend party. When the “Duff-man” confirms he’s flying up with several Osiris team-mates to do a “meet and greet” autograph signing then its time to get the word out. The word got out ten-fold. PlanZ Skateshop from Kelso WA bussed in 18 amped up youth for the event. Skaters drove in from all directions. Even some conservative parents were overheard saying “what a blast this was” to us as they left to tuck in the little ones for the evening.
Tigard grand opening
Several of our jokes were thwarted at the opening of the Jim Griffith Memorial Skatepark in Tigard yesterday.
GVK#25 Halloween Hodads
Calling all Ho-dads near and far. One week ago there was a meeting you should have attended. If you do not see your self on the tape consider yourself out of the club, and banned from future meetings. Pledges may attend next year for consideration of entry. Pledges must make themselves recognizable by wearing a pair of women’s panties on their head. – Signed The Boss of All.
Shortest skatepark opening ever.
Rich from EPM notes: Tigard’s grand opening is at 4:30 on Nov. 8th. Well, the sign says the park is open from sunrise to sunset. We go to daylight savings time on Sunday, Nov. 4th making sunset at approx. 4:45 pm on Nov. 8th. That’s Joesf Heffner working on airing over the dinosaur with nightfall riding his ass in the shot above. It’s a bail though, but this was as good excuse as any to post it. You can see the Photoshop-free version after the jump.
Halloween hijinks: Burnside
So I went to Burnside on Halloween dressed as Space Ghost where I skated poorly for a while before settling down to one location to take a few pictures. The session had just heated up when I had to split to go be Halloween dad with my kid. While there was a lot of good action there, I missed most of it and I made it a point to only shoot people in costume. Enjoy.
S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y (night?) No, Sunday.
The granddaddy of NW skateboarding sites, Skate Oregon, has pictures of some interesting Dreamland concrete in Bay City Oregon. The grand opening was earlier today and sadly, those Scotsmen weren’t at the event, and neither were we. We didn’t even know it was going down, actually. Dang I need to look it up on the map, too. Check out the Skate Oregon pics. Thanks for the tip Sam.
More Pier Park at one year
A few more Pier Park shots from last Saturday. I didn’t get my camera out until the end of the day when the session was winding down. I climbed up on the pipe for these shots. At least the light was good.
Pier Park’s first anniversary
With all the recent skatepark construction in the greater Portland area and beyond, it’s hard to believe PIer Park is only a year old. It seems like an institution already. This past weekend saw some great Indian Summer weather in Portland, and although the pictures might not show it, there was a healthy, festive crowd at Pier Park on both days. More pics after the jump.
