Another case
I’m not sure if this is related to the Skate Case or not, because this one has a different name, and a decidedly more upscale approach. The Brief Skate makers think you want to skate around with iPads and condoms in you skateboard, if you can believe the pictures on their web site. It makes sense you know, for those situations where skateboards are allowed but backpacks aren’t. [Source: DesignBoom] – Thanks to David Caldwell for the tip.
There’s a meme for this
Now that this is a thing, I’m quitting my day job so I can finally pursue my dream of starting an entertainment channel and social networking site entirely devoted to accidentally hitting animals while downhill skateboarding. It’s going to be called i-roadkill, or ZuubSplat, or something similar. I expect you all to bankroll it via kickstarter. You owe me. [Source: Unofficial Networks]
Spanish Bombshells
Skater Girls photographed by Claire Garcia Rosso, whose web site appears to be down, but her Deviant Art profile isn’t. She’s from Zaragoz, Spain, so any chance to sneak in a Clash reference, I’m going to take it. These photos date back to February of 2012, and it’s unclear if they have been published in print or not. Check out the highly functional skate footwear. Must be from the line of new high heels by DC Shoes.
Vintage Levis
Here’s three vintage Levi’s print ads from the 70’s. The one on the right is from Salvador Dali’s brief, unpublicized performance art piece where he worked as commercial artist in various ad agencies. Yes, I am making this up.
California Christmas
California Christmas by Manafest, a guy who kind of looks and sounds like the guy from Workaholics. Coming up next on Yo S&A Raps!
Sweet Cheeks
Bali Batik Boyshort from Sweet Cheeks, a company that isn’t designed to give dudes a reason to photograph girls in their underwear, it’s run by two time Olympic medalist snowboarder Hannah Teter. Sure, you may have seen her in a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, but she’s also a social activist. At least 40% of each panty sold by Sweet Cheeks is given to charity. Above, that’s Burton team rider Gabi Viteri. Sweet Cheeks is based in Portland BTW. – Thanks to Joey for the tip.
Fuze LED deck lights
Available on Ebay from $9 to $20. Or $4 if you want to go the used route. – Thanks to Josh Baker for the tip.
My Friend Jenny
My friend JeNny, [sic] a skateboarding “hip hop girl” circa 1999 from South Korea. Maybe it took a little longer for 90’s baggy jeans to make it to Korea. It’s only $19.99, but I don’t know about shipping it. The skateboard on the front of the box looks like a clown shoe. – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip.
Hey Kool-Aid!
Kool Aid man celebrating Thanksgiving in the Macy’s parade. Photos that weren’t taken with a cell phone pointed at the TV and a little video after the jump. Happy Thanksgiving.
Surf or Die
This is the Surf MC’s album Surf or Die that came out on Profile records in 1987. It’s pretty awful stuff, but the video has decent art direction with a little bit of Pee Wee’s Playhouse and a lot of Stacy Peralta and Craig Steyck. At first I thought it was a music video that Peralta would rather forget, but they used Skull Skates boards instead of Powell Peralta. – Thanks to Heath for the record and Johnny Sampson for the tip.
