schmitt stix fake

Schmitt Stix Allen Midgett bootleg

In this edition of bootleg boards we have a Schmitt Stix that doesn’t look like fake at first sight. Although the graphics are pretty damn accurate, the shape is completely different. The original “Flower Picker” was designed by Jay Henry and came out in 1988. This deck even has the name of the artist near the back truck, just like the original one. Sold on eBay for $50 with Venture trucks and ? wheels. Why do most people write ‘Midgette’ while this one is ‘Midgett’? I’ve seen one Airbourne LSD that says ‘Midgette‘ too. Anyone knows? (That’s his name, not to be confused with Allen Midgette – K.ed)

And the original one from 1988, as seen on Wheelbite.com.

Looks a lot like the Monty Nolder shape.

  2. I had this board back in early 90’s, it was as the one on the website. I remember these fake boards….We used to get those at flea markets…They were copying most brands and grphics, but they all had that fish shape. The ventures must have been added later.

    Hope it helped

  3. They were sold complete with cheap trucks and brandless fluo wheels

Technically, the design was by Allen although his drawing resembled something like a 5 year old would draw. I did do the finished design which led to me doing Bryce Kanights’ graphics as well as Steve Douglas’ on the west coast road trip. I drew pictures while Larry did landscaping to make money, awesome.
