Devil’s Toy
This 1966 film is available for viewing online, legally at the National Film Board of Canada. Actually, they are showing the 1969 version, which is the English language version instead of the original French version. You can even buy a DVD copy if you want. If you haven’t seen it, you should definitely watch this gem.
– Thanks to Japakiva for the tip.

Is that Sheckler?
Would like to see the outro theme on a vinyl 7″.
That’s a great piece of early skateboarding documentary history (and well produced at that I’d add).
I particularly relish the sarcastic tone taken about the opposition to skating.
Tempting to buy a DVD copy actually.
Fun watch! Thanks for the tip.
Take away their skateboards and those youngsters become harrassing, milk drinking hoodlums!
Great music.
a great piece of skateboarding history , i wonder hwere thos Montreal skaters are now, used to bomb those same hills back in the ’80 s.Sadly Claude Jutra
commited suicide in the 85 ,Jutra was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in the early 1980s. He died, an apparent suicide, in 1986. His body was found in the St. Lawrence River some months after he disappeared, with a note in his pocket reading “I Am Claude Jutra.” [1]
It’s always impressive how some films can stand the test of time. This one does on several levels.
I’ve got a few friends that skate the hill featured in the video. They call it The Devil’s Toy 🙂
the devils toy…how prophetic! every other sk8 co. is emblazoned w/ pentagrams
50 years and not much has changed except the shape of the boards…
