Piccola Pupa – The Skate Board Song [1965]
Thanks to the Facebook-Site “Skateboarding Hall o Fame” for finding that rare video from 1965, featuring italian-born Piccola Pupa on the microphone and Wendy Bull on the skateboard.
The song was also released on a vinyl 7″ the same year by DAY DELL Records (cat.nr. DD-1008) performed by nine-year-old Norma Tracey and her Cinderella Kids. According to surf music historian John Blair, Norma was the daughter of Jimmy Wisner, co-producer of this record and co-writer of that song.
Obviously there´s at least one more version by Italian singer Rita Pavone.
I warned that little bitch about pushing mongo.
Fabelhaft!
That’s Wendy Bearer Bull, sister of Danny Bearer and recent inductee into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame.
Thanks for the additional info!
And that’s Piccola Pupa, grandmother of Rebecca Black, on the microphone. Who seems to have skateboarding confused with logrolling… as movie Hitler would say, The board… is not… on the wheels, damnit!
Not surprisingly, I suppose, the co-writer’s nine year old daughter’s rendition is not as execrable as Piccola Puerile’s.
Great post Doc!
Thanks John!
