Grindline in Laconner, Washington
This is a Grindline park in Laconner, Washington which is about a half an hour south of Bellingham. That’s Ted or possibly Fred on the backside boneless which was in fact a make, according to regular contributor John Aguilar. -Thanks! I saw pictures of a new Grindline park in Atlanta, GA (mainly in the street sections) that looked like it had some elements of a new direction for Grindline. Hard to tell from the tiny pictures though. Any of our Hotlanta readers want to scout it out?
these pictures make it look like a really nice park, are you sure its really a Grindline park?
The park in Atlanta is the Old Fourth Ward Skatepark. It was built on the site of the DIY spot, the Foundation.

I think Grindline did the build and Pillar did the design.

The 3 bowls at the Atlanta Park (4th Ward) are fantastic. The deep is huge, the 6 foot is fun and the 4 foot is really tight and original. That street section is another matter entirely. While constructed well, the design is terrible. It only suites 1 or 2 people at a time and it is almost impossible to get speed for. People always line up along the one side of the 4 foot bowl that has a deck and take turns shooting through a narrow gap to get into it. It is really only fun when it is a small session…and forget it when kids are clogging it up trying to learn (not their fault). Thankfully I don’t mind spending most of my time in the bowls…but there are plenty of people around here who see the park as a huge missed opportunity. Honestly I am surprised that Pillar and Grindline made it (street section) because little changes could have easily made it better. OK I am done venting.
That description fits well with Northside Park in Norfolk Virginia. If I remember right Pillar did the design and again, Grindline handled parts of the build (although I’m not sure which parts exactly). The bowl and mini snake run are fun but the street area is pretty poorly done due to an attempt to fit a million things into a small space. It’s still fun as long as you go during the middle day when kids are in school.
Northside was designed by Pillar and built by Grindline. The design was adapted from something a non-skatepark design company came up with after a few meetings with the public. That said, there are some serious design flaws like a euro gap where people need to get speed and coping on the side of stairs not on the top where you would actually grind.
I like the spine-pocket-bank wall, or bank-pocket-spine, or bankspine, or spinebank.
Spine bank? Is that like the spank bank for skate terrain?
