Skate and Annoy: Daily

Aggressive non-violence

If you’re a fan of this site then it should come as no surprise that after the jump you’ll see way too many pictures of these Toyboarders that are essentially the skateboarding version of plastic army men.

From the creator:

It was a pretty long process. I will say that I had the idea years ago . I’m an old school skateboarder from back in the day. My son “A.J.” Lives breathes & eats skateboarding -he goes to San Clemente High School. He helped me design all the poses and style them all out.

We wanted to them to look authentic, not corny or too cartoony -like we have seen all the other stuff before. We wanted to keep them simple -like the old school Toy Soldiers -no moving parts, or wheels. We wanted kids to use their imagination – turn anything from a pencil to cereal bowl into a skate park.

The You Tube Video we did took like 2 Days, We both Shot it, I photoshopped some of the wires out & My son Did the editing. We encourage other kids to make their own video & to put it on You Tube – the Winner each month will be posted on our website & win a deck.

So far we have 3 Major Skate Distributors: Eastern Skate Supply, VK Skate, South Shore Distribution. We are also just stating to get them into select toy stores. You can also get them from our web store at www.toyboarders.com

The figures which are fairly detailed, more so than your average army guy. Overall I’d say they were pretty much successful in achieving their goals. If I had one big beef it would be the resin used in the molds. Do you remember how army men come in couple different grades of plastic? Well these are kind of soft and flimsy. Some of them don’t balance well. If it weren’t for the fair amount of detail in the actual figures it would be more annoying. I remember a lot of those cheaper army guys looked really crappy, and a little flat. Not the case with Toyboarders.

Kid tested and approved. This guy has to be the closest thing to the Toyboarder equivalent of the army man with the metal detector. He was always the first one to get melted.

Where it says “Made in China” on the bottom of the board actually refers to the real-life board the life size figure would be riding, which is just amazing attention to detail.

Pork Pie hat? Where’s the skinny jeans?

24 to a pack, in 8 different poses. Series two is in the works as well as series one in snowboarders and surfers.
