Bucky & Pink

As a pop star I like Pink even though she tries too hard. Still, I’m not going to buy any of her albums, although my kids (5 and 3) somehow love the song “So What.” These stills are from the video for Raise Your Glass that features Bucky Lasek. It’s not the first time she’s dabbled with skateboarders in music videos.

Aha… this must be the origin of my favorable predisposition to Pink.

  1. “Dabbled with skateboarders”? Pink skated… and presumably was a skater, instead of having a Mexican stand-off with skating like those Canadians Avril Lavigne and Justin Bieber. (That’s what I dig about Celine Dion; she doesn’t pretend to have skated.)

    1. I mean c’mon, where do you think she got that jutbutt?? She deserves one of Dave Hagstrom?s Peterbuilt style “Skaterbuilt” stickers on her (jean’s) ass (and hey, Dave could probably sell out into clothing if it weren’t for copyright infringement). But maybe you oughter post Mos Def’s old video for “Ghetto Rock” while you’re at it, cuz, even though I don’t think he was a skater (and did NOT invent the Smith), it downright qualifies as a skate video, instead of featuring a little skating (plus his Blackjack Johnson Project band of the time featured the Bad Brains’ Dr. Know on guitar, fwtw… and he deserves credit for hating Fred Durst so much that he set out to reclaim RnR for black people… even if it isn’t RnR).

Yeah. Why would anyone want to leave Doylestown? I wish all these big shots stayed unfamous; we wouldn’t ever know them but we’d like them more.

I can understand wanting to get out of Doylestown, (and not even make an aggrandizing documentary about it and X Girls), but why would a “ho” want to “sell out” and become something else… especially one who seems to have been so cherished?

  4. She still looks like a dude. Yuck.

A blonde that has a ramp in her back yard for her friends to skate what a sell out?

  7. So no one brings up the point about the ‘get the party started’ video that they steal the kids boards, then simply discard them a few blocks later? vary rarely to skateboards get stolen, due to the fact that they really hold no value to non-skaters, and we don’t shit where we eat. It has pissed me off for years that this particular artist feels that it is acceptable to jack the little homies for their boards – then leave them by the wayside.

I’m still pissed – I don’t care if they are partying.

    1. Apparently we don’t think where we write, either. Tho I must admit, I myself am still pissed that an Italian scorcher skaterchick less than half my age once yelled at me, in a parking lot “Oooh, now I know your secret place!”, and when I told her “Be my guest… you can steal it anytime”, said “Maybe I will!”, about my big wheels…
