Went to Battleground washington on Saturday morning. A scooter contest was in full swing! Who knew that such things existed?! The ENTIRE park was full of customized scooters and their riders who were all wearing pants that matched their scooters colors. Damned kids and their silly toys messing up my playtime!
I heard about that thing when I went to pier late sat. My first thought was HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
So is that park in the comic Battleground and or Glenhaven?!
Windell’s
I was hood river saturday and it was overrun with a group of traveling, sponsored fruit booters. It was lame, they waxed the coping of the newer covered area 🙁
signs of the end times.
did you just watch them wax or did you nut up and say something…. Dont be a puss don let them wax…..
I would come down hard on the waxin
Good session @ Windells Mark, even if there was 500 of the best scooter rides in the universe in attendance, and lets not even bring up the blind bikebots.
You can’t rollerskate, in a buffalo herd.

Officially, I hate bikes, scooters, boots, and all other wheeled contraptions while I am at a SKATEBOARD PARK. Otherwise, I find great amusement, on many levels, from their mere existence……
i LOVE oregon and you guys have the best parks in world but i just don’t understand why bikes, scooters, etc. are allowed at the vast majority of parks. that shit does not fly in california. i’ve seen fruitbooters punched in the face for waxing coping, boards used as missiles shot through biker’s spokes, scooters thrown out of the skatepark, etc.
You kidding? That stuff comes from California!
Windell’s has bike and snowboard camps. The skatepark is surrounded by gnarly snowboard training and dirt bike jumps and that crazy log ride mountain bike stuff in the woods, They’re kind of multi-disciplinary up there.
I wonder if the reason it bugs me is that it trivializes skateboarding. Yep, we’re all in the toy aisle here.
Mark- you’ll have to go up there on a different day. I’m surprised that by your visit there you couldn’t see through the fruit booters. True, Windells has all kinds of activities but there are very few places where skate park builders get to build what they want and have freedom of design. It seems to be in those circumstances where the best parks are created. You can’t really diss a place where they’ve allosed such a creative, amazing skate park to be made. Most skate parks are adjacent to tennis courts, police stations, football fields and the like, not to mention the worst case scenario, a high school. By just sponsoring that park Windells has transformed into a lot more than just a snowboard camp. This is the first even semi-negative comment I’ve heard about the park so I’m actually surprised it took this long. I have seen so many people, have so much fun skating there that it could hardly trivialize skateboarding.
The park was amazing! Totally bad luck showing up there in the middle of a huge scooter tour and it was the weekend after all. I think there might have been eight of us trying to skate between no lie, a dozen kids on bikes and thirty or more scooter dudes and a handful of little kids of both stripes meandering through the park. We still managed to have a good time and all kept saying we needed to go back during the week after school starts.
Billy said he felt kind of bad for sending you up there on the weekend during open skate. Come up tomorrow or Thursday and we will have a great time sans razor scooter & bikes!
Can you just show up and ride the outside stuff or do you have to have a bro brah dude pass preordered from ticketmaster for 59.95?
Open Session Fridays 5pm-10pm (no lights outside) Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm. Details on the website. $10 to skate or scoot, $20 for bikes – cash only.
The problem isn’t bikes, or roller blades, or even scooters. It’s the people riding them. I’ve met bikers who are polite and don’t get in the way. I have friends that started riding scooters recently too. The problem is any asshole who decides a roll in is a great place to have a conversation with 10 of his friends. Alot of the time this seems to be bikers but I see skaters do it often enough and I’m just as likely to bitch them out as much as anyone riding a bike or scooter. For some reason it seems to be anyone in the 11- 15 year old range who seems to do this most often and act like they are hot shit, but sometimes older guys do it too. Shit, the last time I was at Stoner Park Shane fucking O’Niel kept getting in the. Fuck that guy.
But anyway, I guess what I’m saying is don’t go around fucki9ng up people’s shit because they aren’t skateboards. Except Ripsticks. Those things are all over the Santa Clarita park. Stick those things under a damn semi along with the kids who ride them.
