Skate and Annoy: Daily

Win an Onyx Skateboard

Win this Onyx skateboard here

OK man, I’m phoning it in today, but at least I have something extra for you here. Control Skateboards is giving away this Onyx model to one lucky, hip hop-loving Skate and Annoy reader. Since it’s Onyx, and the last time I can remember hearing them was in in the early 90’s, to win you have dress up in some baggy pants and tiny wheels, then….. just kidding. All you have to do is leave your name in the comments for this post before midnight on Sunday, August 16th and I’ll randomly pick one winner, so use your real email addresses. The board will be shipped directly from Control, so you may even get it in a timely manner. You can pick the width, 7.5″ -8″ on a 14″ wheelbase. Prerequisite press release after the jump.

From Control:

Skateboarding powerhouse Control and Hip Hop Legends ONYX have come together to create an exclusive ONYX skateboard which will be available this summer.  “Our music conveys the energy and emotion of skateboarding, so this is a natural fit”, says Sticky Fingaz.  The board will proudly display one of the most prominent logos in Hip Hop history, the Onyx Madface.  Fredro Starr notes “We’re excited for this skateboard to come out…this is going to be the Mad Skates movement!” Control Skateboards has been a high-end skateboard manufacturer since 1995 and has been featured in the very popular videogame Skate 2 by Electronic Arts. “We are honoured to be associated with ONYX one of the most influential Hip-Hop groups to grab a mic” says Dan Saindon sales manager at Control Skateboards.

The board is to coincide with the release of the movie Sticky wrote, directed and stars called “A Day In The Life” which will be released July 7th by his production company, Major Independents, and Lionsgate Films. It’s the first movie to be told entirely in rap and stars Omar Epps, Mekhi Phifer, Fredro Starr, Ray J, Michael Rapaport, Bokeem Woodbine, Faizon Love, Malinda Williams and host of others.  The soundtrack is out exclusively on iTunes July 7 and physically August 18th from Tommy Boy Records featuring music from the film and four all new songs from Sticky and Onyx.  Look out for Onyx’s “The Black Rock” tour of the US and Canada starting July 9th.  Their album, also entitled “The Black Rock”, will be in stores this October followed by a performance on this year’s VH1 Hip Hop Honors show.

  • theotherstan

Hi times are tough these days. I’m collecting skateboards to make special skateboard clocks for a total profit organization called skaters of the blind. Also, I’m collecting any HD or lcd televisions 28 inch or bigger. Gud bless you.

  • Kilwag, May I please have the skateboard. I will etch Cold War Skateboards on it.

  • Antagonism

    !!!

  • I push barges up & down the Mississippi River for a living. Things have been slow lately. I wish I could win this board while times r tough.

  • Gavin Graham

I cracked my board last week and am without deck. So I’ll enter on the odd chance of not having to buy a new one. Cheap and lazy baby, that’s the way to be.

  • Chrismatic

Man, SnA will “dance” to anything. Kind of becoming the TMZ of skate sites. What next? Danny Bonaduce steroid decks? I’m with Greg N., embarrassing.
