bomb blast

Burnside is/is not Ground Zero

People who run skateboard web sites get some weird mail. There’s a guy out there that wants to warn Portland skateboarders… of what, I’m not sure. Something to do with a nuclear blast drill being held in Portland. Curiously, this image from a Harvard University’s 2007 Day After Report shows the outlying St Johns bridge near Pier Park as ground zero, and not the Burnside Bridge, which is typically thought of as ground zero for skateboarding and Portland at large.

Subject: potential crisis at Burnside

I’m a former skater and I have seen info on the militaries operation Nobel Resolve scheduled for Portland, OR Aug 20-24. The public is nervous because they are doing a drill to respond to a nuclear device in downtown Portland. The target area includes the river and bridge area and after Minneapolis I’d shut Burnside down tomorrow morning, since it’s under a bridge and it can be destroy by the city of Portland at any time it wishes. Here’s a link to what’s flying around the Internet. Better to be safe than sorry.

I hope you can contact people who can warn the skaters in Portland quickly. Call skate shops please and skate magazines.

Know this your media or government have said nothing about this Noble Resolve Operation. Here’s a link to the Day After report that is part of this operation.

The military has looked at this document.

Better to be safe than sorry.

So consider yourself warned. Anarchy Burger! [Source: Skate Oregon]

I get it … basically the government is on a mission to kill all the skaters, possibly resorting to nuclear weapons (don’t they understand we are tougher than cockroaches???)

The motive is unclear yet … but plleasse… start with Avril … launch the warheads her way first.

  • geth noble? noble resolve? operation geth noble resolve? what’s the connection between geth and the government practicing to respond to a nuclear bomb? is gabriel park gonna be ‘da bomb’? will the federal government shut it down? it’s a conspiracy! portland is doomtown.

  • What’s Really Happening at Noble Resolve

Don’t worry, nobody’s blowing up anything.

For a view of what Noble Resolve 07-2 is really about, check out this live blog by Robert Pursell from U.S. Joint Forces Command Public Affairs. He’s posting directly the experiment floor.

I don’t know what this person was trying to suggest. It’s a combination of bad grammar and lack of background information that just leaves me scratching my head.

After reading it again, I think he is saying we should be worried about Burnside being shut down by The Government to prevent terrorism because it is under a bridge, and we should mobilize ourselves to prevent it.

i dont think the person that wrote in was saying anyone wanted to destroy the b.side park, this has more to do with people concerned for portlands bridges (which would obviously harm b.side)

  • Wow I am posting again, guess you guys got a pretty good site! Must be tough to work a job and run this site? Keep up the good work Ya’ll. Hey look, I got my own post with myself going! doh! Maby thats why people should ” Think before they” Submit Comment.. Plus this Chat/Blog/Post/Whatever stuff seems to hang out in weird places on the internet sometimes.
Burnside ground zero?, how about ground Numero Uno.. foolio!

  • Maby I was confused with who wrote that or if they were joking etc..?
I just hate people that use the D word w/ Burnside in the same sentence (its just dumb) That s been said/going down threatened since day one. And yes it is always on all our minds, but I think the park is safe. If the s ever goes down, incite riot! No seriously though, I think in that situation we will declare it a historical monument protected under some law,bla bla. Besides the radiation would make the park even gnarlier and really keep all the kooks away! If you dont think skateboarding is gnarly or havent ever seen the unbelievable, I guess you don’t hang out at Burnside! I doesnt happen too often nowadays but every once in a while you might see the REAL!
    Death Defying,Chaos!

  • Who is this comedian, I mean idiot.
Burnside is a historical monument in Portland and helped make Portland famous/legendary in the skateboarding world.. the city I am sure is very proud & lucky to have it.
