Tony Hawk (toy) BMX bike?

The July 1st issue of Bicycle Retailer and Industry News reports that Tony Hawk has inked a deal for a signature bike line with a company called Dynacraft. Tony Hawk will be joining Dynacraft’s illustrious lineup of brands that include Hot Wheels and Barbie. You can buy these performance machines at such fine cycling outfitters as Amazon.com and Target. What’s that? concerned about the quality? Not to worry, according to Bicycle Retailer and Industry News

Tony Hawk bikes will be completely different than anything Dynacraft has distributed in the past,” said John Bisges, managing director at Dynacraft. “They will have higher end components, updated frames and the most cutting edge graphics ever. We are all extremely excited about this new bike line, and are certain it will be a big hit when we showcase it to customers at this year’s Interbike show.” The line will be available in retail stores beginning in spring 2008.

I’m placing bets that Tony Hawk bicycles will likely be a BMX facsimile. Maybe we can expect a Matt Hoffman to start hawking toy skateboards in retaliation. Get a closeup of some previous Dynacraft “cutting edge graphics” after the jump. Update: Not just one bike line, but two! “Huckjam” gets it’s own series of bicycles.

From the Times-Herald – Vallejo Ca: AmCan bikemaker to design Tony Hawk models

Dynacraft is planning two series of “Tony Hawk” bikes. The Huckjam Series will target Dynacraft’s mass merchandise customers. The Signature Series will be designed for sporting goods chains and other specialty retail customers. This series will include a premium line of carbon-fiber bikes and high-end models to be distributed online and through select dealers.

Huckjam bikes? Well that’s a lot easier to swallow. You should be able to pick up a Huckjam or Tony Hawk signature bike in Spiring of 2008.

You people are dumbasses – those pics are photoshopped, man. Lay off the weed… seriously.

this is the biggest slap in the face to bmx.

tony has nothing to do with the sport and dynacrap can ess a dee for this shit.

i hope the line will fail horribly… tony hawk and bmx should never be associated. And no i am not shit talking….id tell him this face to face.

they need to stop this shit.

  • like who would fall for that. That’s not Tony Hawk’s bike. Lmfao

  • Tony is awesome some people just got to have some respect i mean without him skateing wouldn’t have been so popular…i mean think about when you say Tony Hawk every one knows who your talking about but say some other skater’s name most will know but not all of them! Give the guy a break photo shoping this pic is wrong……

  • After reading a short interview with Rooftop Escamilla (BMX), I don’t feel quite as dissappointed. Tony is making sure someone who knows BMX is in on the bike design… I still don’t buy the idea that there is a “need” for this product or “bridge” as Mike calls it… but, hell, if I could sell, say, golf clubs, to help pay for my own private skatepark, and my kids education, I’d do it, no doubt.

  • How much money does the guy need????

  • i’m waitin for the tony hawk fishing pole so i can do a 900 and catch some bass.

  • Yea, what are “cutting edge graphics” and who cares? Why not make the bike light strong and better than all the other crap at Wal-Mart? Oh yeah, they do, but they don’t sell ’em at Wally World! And they don’t costs $89… they cost several HUNDRED… I’m a HUGE Tony fan, (no, seriously) and even I’m a lil’ dissappointed at this. There is no ‘need’ to fill with this product, and isn’t that one of the cardinal rules of business?

But how does he sleep at night? Oh right, the money. He can hire someone to sleep for him!

  • A

I kind of thought this was a new low.

  • It’s a cheap shot. Freaking Andy MacDonald should have his own sell-out category. Tony Hawk is like Michael Jordan. You know, the Tony Hawk of Basketball. I can hardly wait to see the most cutting edge graphics ever.

  • I think that nobody is commenting on this because nobody is really all that surprized these days. This is what the Tony Hawk brand has become. This is a man who backed Bagel Bites years ago. Hawk selling out isn’t news any more.

  • id go for dead horse version. seriously…thats just pathetic.

  • A

Come on people, a freakin’ Tony Hawk toy bike!! NO reaction? Really? Or is it just that I’m flogging a dead horse?
