Grip City Wheels are not just the house wheel brand of Rip City Skates, but more of a special project. They’re currently available only in one configuration: 59mm 85a durometer. These wheels are in fact, grippy and softer than your standard park or concrete wheel. I’m not sure what the intended application is, but if you’re looking for a wheel that is not going to rattle your teeth as you roll down the streets, then look no further. What city has money for repaving roads these days anyway?

Each set is individually hand dyed in a variety of colors, without standard pad printed graphics at all. In fact they had to really convince the manufacturer that this was what they wanted. Let’s not kid ourselves, most skateboard wheels (outside of downhill specialty wheels) are made in the same handful of factories that everyone uses, unless you’re buying an obviously flakey brand made in China, which these are not.

These wheels are unique to any other set you will buy, even if you buy more than one set of (Grip City Wheels). They also come with a weird dot of grip tape decorated and scrawled on by Turnco of Portland, AKA Skip Marcotte.
