I as going through my Trifecta pictures trying to get something together when this one caught my eye. Check out how Mason Huggin’s right foot looks like it’s being severed by his board. I swear to you this is not photoshop trickery, rather the result of some weird flash effect. All I’ve done is adjusted the levels slightly, and obviously cropped and resized it. I’ve included a full size close up of the foot in question, It looks totally doctored, but it isn’t.

Member of the original Zoo York art/skate crew, activist, skatepark designer, and all around skate scene motivator Andy Kessler died from an allergic reaction to a wasp sting on Monday. As reported in Forbes, Skateboarder</a, ESPN, the Associated Press, UPI, New York magazine, and everywhere else but here, until now. Thanks to everyone who sent in the tips, I’m obviously not reading my google alerts this week. Here’s a 2007 video interview with Andy and another lengthy 2005 profile.

This week’s Shot of the Week is from photog Sk8 D, who snapped this shot outside an extreme!™ sports function in Portland a few weeks back:
Favorite moment from the lame ass redbull thing they had a few weeks ago, this guy won hands down in my book he held that manny for almost 30 minutes.
Check out the Shot of the Week.
Here’s a couple Trifecta composite shots from Sk8 D. Lance Mountain (Enlarge-o-rama, unless you are on an iPhone..) up top, and Mason Huggins after the jump. Yes. I’m stalling.

The Wall Street Journal recently called Portland the Skateboarding Capital of the World and a lot of hoopla surrounds the 19 Skatepark System Plan. Five skateparks parks in the ground, posted skateboard route, skateboarders in City Hall, we’ve got it made right? Not so. City officials will stop taking their bows and soon will forget all about us as all the other things they have to deal with compete for their attention.
Get over to Skaters for Portland Skateparks to weigh in on how we need to continue building the system, better yet, contact Parks Commissioner Nick Fish and Portland Parks and Rec. Remember to be polite, thank them for the work they’ve done so far but remind them that they aren’t done and you still want the promised skatespot in your neighborhood.
Hey, it’s Lance Mountain and the Tigard dinosaur. That’s a combination you don’t usually see at a skateboard contest. First to post Trifecta 2009 video, as far as I know, a site called BFD.com. Check it out after the jump.
