I used to ride for this shop’s skateboard team which comprised of: John Pearce (bowls & pipes), Tim Saw (bowls & pipes), Terry Ainscombe (freestyle), Pete Lawson (all sorts) and me (slalom).
The shop was run by a lovely couple: Val and her husband (name escapes me). He’d drive us in his van to competitions all around the south-east from down south at The Barn in Brighton up to Kidderminster near Birmingham.
We used to get free kit and boards, plus we got to try out all the latest gear. And one summer (78?) we became marshals at Skate Circus (Wandsworth Road) and got to skate for free all year.
Fantastic summer memories: 77-79.
