Roncastle LTD: Match This For Value
There’s something to be said for a bold, high contrast advertisement. A sharp, large graphic can really grab your eye, and deflect your attention from the fact that it’s not really apparent what the brand name of the product is. Roncastle Ltd isn’t exactly the catchiest skateboard company name. The copy does mention a “superlative Californian board,” but it’s not sure if that is the brand or a description. Although also a product name, the word “Californian” was often used as an adjective to imply legitimacy in UK publications. We’re an English company, but you know our skateboards are good, like the Californians use… That may sound corny, but it fits in the context some of the other copy, like “A really magnificent board!” Check out the angle of that “kick back” or kicktail, depending on where you read it. This is, in fact, a really magnificent advertisement.
