Building a better skateboard wheel – a wheel that’s faster, quicker, smoother truer running and rugged enough to take the bumps and grinds of competitive riding – takes engineering know-how.

Gyro Scientific, Inc. applied advanced space technology to develop that kind of a wheel. It takes a perfect blend of material and technology. For instance, our hard-anodized aluminum hub is precision machined to a tolerance of .0005 of an inch. It’s designed to act as a heat sink that draws oft the heat around the bearings. Each bearing is always in true parallel with the others and always perpendicular to the axel. We just eliminated bearing deformation and “wave” affect by keeping the bearing between the axel and the inside of the hub.

We took some time solving another technical problem: The bond between the hub and urethane. First, we formulated a urethane compatible with the high-performance hub. Then we developed a special bond tough enough to stand Gyro’s higher speeds, quicker turns and yet keep a tight surface grip

What we came up with is a great new skateboard wheel that costs a little more, but is worth a lot more. Putting more miles of pure fun in your skateboard wheels takes a lot of serious engineering. At Gyro Scientific, that’s what we do best.
