FU old man!
If you learned to rotate 90 degrees a year it would only take you eight years to master a 720, which works out fine for eight year old Evan Doherty. The video description says he landed the 720 on “vert” but he’s clearly way down by the seam on the transition. I’m clearly just kidding… This puts things like thefirst “street” backflip into perspective. This eight year old probably lives in Calif… what’s that? Oh yeah? Kansas… I wonder how long he’ll stick with it. Video after the jump.
Indoor en La Tabacalera
An artfully done video of indoor skatepark construction in an old tobacco factory in Madrid, Spain with mostly recycled materials. It’s a bit long but it’s interesting, the soundtrack on middle timelapse section section had me cracking up. Check it out. – Thanks to Sarib Khalsa for the tip.
Spirograph for the skate set
D*Face is back at the Ridiculous Pool, this time with a contraption that attaches a can of spray paint to a skateboard and leaves a trail. Now you’ll never have to ask “What’s the line over the death box?” Photo essay online at Concrete Disciples or catch the video after the jump. – Thanks to MC and Ryan Hass for the tip.
Extremities
Eli Stonberg strapped a camera onto Aryeh Kraus, and then he strapped five more on. One on each arm, each leg, his head and the underside of he skateboard. Then he trained another on him while he skated, and synched all the videos together. The result is pretty interesting once you get past a little initial motion sickness. It’s supposed to be a commercial for Coca Cola’s energy drink Burn, but there’s no mention of it, maybe they just paid for it. Check it out after the jump. – Thanks to Ryan Mann for the tip.
Downhill tailgating
Here’s some pretty cool POV footage of some downhill action courtesy of Madrid rider Zak Maytum, who starts out at the back and ends up passing everyone at least once. This reminds me of the old Omnimax footage of the rollercoaster ride and corvettes driving down a windy road. Iggy and the Stooges on the soundrtack too. Geez, I must have downhill on the brain, this is two Maryhill posts in a week. UPDATE: Duh. I forgot the video, but it’s there now. [Source:Skateonline]
Reader Video: Forming
Another gem from Punkerbean featuring more than one cool spot. Enjoy. – Thanks to Franks (Shaw?) for the tip.
GVK# 62: The Micromillion Dollar Man Ollie
Just a little fun on a rainy saturday. Hope you enjoy. I am attempting to put out more videos than Sorcery 118. The quality will come later.
Unrelated reader videos
I’ve got two reader videos for you. One is from sometime friend of the site Colin Walsh (Rules!). It’s a Burnside Halloween video. The other is from someone in “The Crew” who I can’t place and probably doesn’t actually visit the site. I think it’s someone who friended me on Facebook from one of those “you might know” bubbles. Enjoy two diametrically opposed soundtracks.
Schlomo Christmasclaus
Merry Xmas It took as long to put together as it did to shoot the whole thing. Gvk Spreads X-mas joy. I am not going top to slo-mo work all the time in case anyone cares. Battleground all to our selves. We here at GVK studios wishing you a Merry Festival Day, Jesus.
GVK #61: Chariots of Perspire
Drama, drama, drama. I created drama with slow motion. I actually just figured out how to use the slow motion on my new camera. Sixty frames per second instead of 30. It’s apparent where the old technology comes in when I’m using my old camera. It appears as stop-action. The new one is smooth as $500 can buy.
