Joe not-so-Cool pushes mongo and worse, rides vert.
Snoopy has been known to ride a skateboard or two, at least on shirts and toys. This may be the first time he’s ever appeared in animated form on skateboard. He’s A Bully, Charlie Brown aired over the Thanksgiving weekend to little fanfare. The copyright is 2006 and though already deceased, Charles Schultz is listed as a producer. It must have been in the works before he passed on. Video link and more captures after the jump.
Grover’s Video Korner #3: T-Day Edition
Well here is the third installment of the Grovers Video Korner completed on T-givingday so eat your turkey and enjoy “Danimals Greatest Hits”. Dan seems like he is our age (old) but he is not. He looks old but he is not. As a matter of fact the only time he acts his age is when he is shredding on his skateboard, see video for proof. (Kids at his local park call him Honest Abe cause he’s from Illinois and they think he looks like Lincoln – k.ed)
Super Champion Fun Zone – Four Star – 2005
This video follows the Four Star team on a two week tour of Tokyo, Japan. Four Star has some of the best skaters, and of course the Gonz is there, which makes the video that much better. Throughout the entire video he is riding that land barge of a board. This is definitely one of the better videos to come out during 2005. It gets the fire burning below to get out and skate. Featured Skaters: Brian Anderson, Mike Carroll, Mark Gonzales, Rick Howard, Eric Koston, P.J. Ladd, Guy Mariano, and Max Schaaf. Run time: 36 min 59 sec – Check it out.
Watch a rollerblader eat it.
All those earlier injury and death posts got you bummed out? It’s never funny when someone get’s hurt. Unless they are rollerbladers or skateboarders climbing on electric trains.
Nerds help the uncoordinated pretend to skate.
Seriously. I had a hard enough time with Defender, so when Defender Stargate came out it was just too overwhelming. That’s how I feel with the video games these days. Too many button combinations to remember to be able to freaking enjoy playing. That’s why simple games like Guitar Hero are the best. Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam is available fro two platforms, Nintendo DS and more importantly in this case, The Nintendo Wii. Why? Because with the gyroscope motion sensitive controller you can use the involuntary muscle spasms and body movement to your advantage when pretending to skateboard. There’s a video showing how it works here. It’s actually kind of cool. That one guy might be related to Weird Al.
Behind the scenes with a bad game name.
The marketing juggernaut for Tony Hawk’s Project 8 video game is already ramped up. Fileshack.com is a site devoted to all imaginable types of downloads concerning video games. In this case they they have a bunch of behind the scenes footage in the development of Tony Hawk’s Project 8. Project 8? How about behind the scenes footage of the guy who green lighted that name getting fired? I don’t think this footage is proprietary to the site though. You’ll have to endure multiple attempts and guilt trips from Fileshack.com to get you to sign up for an account and to get faster downloads. Whatever. Let me download it or not, quit making me jump through hoops. They have a bunch of videos on Project 8 (Genius!) available. The still above are from a motion capture session. Check it out.
Grover’s Video Korner #2 – Double Concussion Louie
Old Steve is having problems with his email, so I have to paraphrase his intro. He wanted to mention that this kid Louie, the Aumsville expert is the best kind of team rider to sponsor because he never asks for boards and instead rides them until they are barely a nub of wood. He speculated that might be because Louie’s had two concussions complete with airlifts out of Aumsville, and some sort of skull surgery, so perhaps he can’t remember to ask for them. Anyway, the footage was all shot within 5 minutes of Louie arriving at the park, as I was trying to get grover to get in my car so we could leave. Not bad. Steve’s working out the bugs on his new intro footage. We promise it will be local skate company agnostic for the next one. Check out this edition of Grover’s Video Korner. Can there be any doubt that he’s in line for Interweb Infamy? Hold on, I like that. Make that Interweb Infamyâ„¢.
Skateboarding girls? No. Skatebording girls.
This is the must watch skate video of the week. It’s amusing, and not nearly as creepy as these screen captures would lead you to believe. Please, let’s not turn this into a predictable tirade about how this makes fun of girls who skateboard, because it doesn’t. Sometimes things are just funny. I have no idea where this is from, or if the Japanese is legit, because the account has been suspended, but it’s still available on a German site. Update: That was fast. in the time it took to screen capture the vid it was gone as soon as I posted it, before I could save it. If anyone finds it again, let me know. I want to see mannequins rolling downhill on a skateboard. So should you. UPDATE: It lives! Thanks to Orezona for this link. Get it while you can!
Leeds U.K. Northern Mafia Jam
Matthew Sefton has checked in again with this write up complete with pics and video of an event called Middle Age Shred Northern Mafia Jam, which took place in Leeds Works Skatepark, Saturday 28th October 2006. The blokes name in the picture is Trawler. He looks like he’d be a Burnside local, but Leeds is more U.K. action in case you haven’t gathered. Check it out.
Paranoid Park Tryouts on Grover’s Video Korner
After weeks of faking Grover’s video Korner in hopes of getting him to contribute to the site, Grover finally coughed up this video footage of the skateboarding tryouts for the Guz Van Sant film Paranoid Park which is filming in and around Burnside. His first installment is both hard to watch and riveting. A star is born, ladies and gentlemen. Without further adieu, I give you Steve’s intro. (Ahem, adieu: I hope to get him posting these directly, bypassing my sarcastic comments entirely, but MC managed to get this posted before I could! ) Hello everyone welcome to my blog I will try to keep it current. It will consist of stuff I find interesting. So (tune out-drop-in) and get your blog on as I get my blog on. Peace off Grover. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Paranoid Park Tryouts on Grover’s Video Korner
