Girl Distribution Orientation Video
I guess this is old, but it was new to me, so here we are. It’s a pretty funny video spoof on corporate orientation videos done by Girl Skateboards. It gets a bit slow and sometimes they get off theme, but overall it’s pretty well done. The “orientation” takes you through a bunch of differnt aspects of the operation. Noticeably absent is the wood shop, so draw your own conclusions. The host is reminiscent of Chris Farley at times. [Source: Dept of Skateboarding]
Skaterpede
Check out this video titled Skaterpede from Wall of Gray. Yes, it’s Wall of Gray week on Skate and Annoy. He’s got a different take on skate videos, and a nice break from the usual.
Concrete Decor
Here’s an interesting short video about concrete skateparks as an art form, from the perspective of a concrete worker. It’s a podcast put together by Concrete Decor Magazine, and mainly features Michael Dahl talking about hte work he and others did/do with Airspeed Skateparks [Source: Wall of Gray]
You’ve got to let that raga drop
Welsh Pete via Sleestak found this video of some Arab skateboarding action that complements some of the stuff we’ve posted lately. Rather than reinterpret, I’ll poach use his own words: So between the ages of 10 and 17 I lived in Bahrain. The only kids that really skated were us Brits and Yanks. Not many Bahrainis skated. So its good to see them getting into it. One of my friend’s was just out there and he sent me this vid of the locs trying to kill themselves…. Thats right you can have all these preconceived ideas about Muslims and Arabs but some like skateboarding, fucking about and heavy metal just like you…. Well, I don’t like heavy metal, (except Dethklok and the Darkness) but I like skateboarding. This is the kind of thing Pete should be posting on Skate and Annoy instead of making be poach it from him.
GVK #28: Spring Broke
Here it is the adult skate boarders spring break. Booze, chicks and skateboarding minus the booze and chicks. Peace Off. Grover
Lincoln City Snake ate my video camera
A lot of our readers won’t get a chance to go to Lincoln City and see what the new snake run looks like. Fortunately for them, I’ve gone ahead and put together a short video tour that looks like it was shot by a meth addict in withdrawl who covered the lens with vaseline, stuck it down his pants and then dropped it in the dirt. This is the first time I’ve looked at any of the footage I’ve shot on a large screen in a long time. I can’t wait to see those family videos…
You gets in r waay!
One more epic battle between skateboarders and BMX caught on video. Will it never end? Do we need to have a celebrity rap video made to stop the violence? [Source: Fat BMX – Yes!]
Friday T&A on SnA: Hawt prefab concrete action
I was in the skate park video taping my friend Tito (the small kid wearing black) when pell, my friends sister, and aweosme make-out artist, Pell gets on her skate bored and steals Titos spotlight Yes this is a weak post, but this short video totally made me laugh, all things considered. I guess I need to create a Friday T&A category. I got the idea from EPM.
Safety first.
Scott Starr has amassed an impressive amount of historical surfing and skateboarding films. Unlike some of us (me) who just press a record button, he has transferred film stock to video. And unlike some of us (me), he hasn’t gotten kicked off of YouTube. He used to have a web site but the domain has been expired for some time. He’s got some great artifacts though, and is more or less the classy version of what I do here with more recent commercials. The watermark is a little intrusive, but I suppose it has to be, or jerks like me would be paoching his footage constantly. Check out this 1978 video for skate safety, which features a truly bitchin’ corny soundtrack especially made for the film, and a few shots that look like NAMBLA material or out takes from a Larry Clark film. Car as skateboard – Part… (I lost count)
My money is on fake because the acceleration up the “vert” wall seems too fast, it’s on MySpace, and the clip is so short. You’d think if you actually caught this on video you’d keep the record button pressed, maybe talk to the driver… The imperfect landing was a nice touch though. Prove me wrong. – Thanks to Damienhialation for the tip.
