Squarebuckets Crew pool video
I think this was an entry in some sort of video contest being held by the LA Times back in 06. It’s a collection of pool skating by the “Squarebuckets Crew” out of Plasterville, California that I know nothing about. I enjoyed the video, but neglected to post it until now.
London’s Burning (with alcohol)
Yeah it’s a tired Clash reference, but at least I didn’t title it London Calling. Our Czech ex-pat Marek Litinski went back to the fatherland (motherland?) for a week and got stuck in London for an extra week becasue his “papers weren’t in order,” or so he claims to his wife… While he was there he happened on the Quiksilver Bowlriders contest in Cantelowes, a Dreamland park that we posted about earlier. Some of the eurpean skate sites have video from that contest up. Now Marek supposedly finished 4th, but must have done somehting to piss off the locals because every time he comes on camera the cut to a different guy. I begged Marek to bring a camera with him so we could get a little European skate coverage that wasn’t hand me down, and he obliged. When I spoke to him on his return, he said the thing that made the biggest impression on him was the fact that adults were allowed to openly drink beer in the presence of minors without the Aumsville Police U.K. equivalent of the National Guard being called out. Ironically, he was also present when Lodoners had near riot conditions during an all…
GVK# 30: Gabriel Park is/is not open
So I get a call and some on tells me Gabriel is still not open, yet the footage you are about to witness would lead you to believe the opposite but as you can plainly read Gabriel is closed? “Kooks go home,” is what I was told.
Dropping In for free this weekend
Dropping In: The True Story of Don Wimmer. It’s about time. I’m so sick of all the lies and hype… Errr.. Wha? There’s a movie about a guy who ditched his career as a CPA to try and become a pro skater at age 42. No, it’s not Grover, but it does sound like an elaborate setup for a joke. Don is Concrete Wave’s 2008 “Speedboarder of the Year,” so I’m guessing he’s either good at downhill (er.. speedboarding) or is a fan favorite. You can watch the dmovie for free this weekend, after which you’ll have to pay for the DVD or wait till it hits Fuel TV or something. More info at Dropping In, or watch it here after the jump.
Friday T&A on S&A: Bikini Girl skates pool
She says: I hope I don’t break my neck! Yeah, that would be a real, uh, shame.
Gumby Adventure Episode 86 – Skateboard Rally
Gumby and his band are performing at a skateboard rally, but before he can get to it the Blockheads steal Gumby’s board (7 minutes). You can watch a short segment here. No blockheads but Yes that is Gumby throwing up the hang loose looping and playing his guitar at the same time. Prickle on Sax, Goo on keyboards and Pokey on skins. For $1.99 you can download Gumby Adventures episode 86 from Amazon and it will be yours to cherish. Provided you have a Windows XP SP2 or Vista PC or Tivo Series2 or 3 box or a Video-ready Playsforsure portable device registered with them.
Flip Wilson
Gotta love infotainment graphics. This one is from the Denver Post article on William Spencer. Reminds me of several things. I think a good fake job for a character in a book or movie would be dental animation specialist – or someone who makes a living modeling 3d computer graphics of mouths and teeth for toothpaste and mouthwash commercials. We’ve covered this guy before, but now there’s newer footage. Supposedly, Spencer stunt doubled Orlando Bloom in a Japanese hair care commercial.
GVK#29: Grass Carp In A Minnow Pool
So I went to the beach on Friday. It was hot as balls there too. Canon Beach was the destination, low and behold the new park was finished the guy was putting in the rules sign as we arrived. I asked when is the park open (three times) and he finally said “When this sign is up.” What you witness is what happened after the sign was posted. Peace Off!
You know this ends well
Cue Hans Moleman and football to the groin. Here’s a video that’s “trippy” in more ways than one. The guy takes a hard slam, of course, but what’s up with the weird warping footage that looks like it’s been shot underwater or projected onto a wobbly warped sheet of plastic? Warning: Take your dramamine before watching. Thanks to Colin Walsh Rules for the tip, who still hasn’t figured out to send them in via email instead of leaving them as comments in unrelated posts.
Friday T&A on S&A: Transworld Pin Ups
So apparently Transworld had (has?) some sort of Pin Up of the Month. My subscription lapsed… some years ago, so I don’t know if it’s ongoing. As part of their business model, the idea of a Transworld Skateboarding Pin Up Girl is pretty ironic, considering Transworld was supposedly started as a backlash to some of the more racy content and adverts that were appearing in Thrasher in the early 80’s. Well that, and to make money of course. Here’s a behind the scenes video of one of the photo shots. Classy. I mean, I know we’re posting it here on Skate and Annoy, but it seems so out of place in Transworld. Think of the lost shoe advertisement revenue!
