Mercury Polycule is Polycool
I scoured Target and Walgreens to look for skateboarding themed Valentines Day cards and came up empty handed this year. The Portland Mercury ran a gag with fake Valentines cards that included this one. I have to say I didn’t even know what a polycule was, so I had to look it up. Bowl of keys is all you need to know. – Thanks to MC for the pic.
Happy Valentines Day – Betty 96
Nothing says true love lie a heart shaped Valentines Day skateboard. Nothing says mediocre comics quite like the Archie Comic book Group either. Still, they have provided the bulk of skateboarding in vintage comic book content, so they have that going for them.
Extreme Sports Valentines
These Extreme Sports Valentines brought to you by the Dollar Store and printing facilities somewhere in Indonesia feature the holy triumvirate of skateboarding, freestyle motocross and… rock climbing. It’s a pretty weak showing for Valentines Day, but don’t be dismayed because this year they’re still making those “You’re Cool” Snoopy chocolate-filled hearts.
Happy Valentines Day
I didn’t catch these skateboard Valentines until late on Saturday night. There hasn’t been a lot of skateboard themed valentines in the past few years. You know, maybe skateboarding is losing it’s popularity. Head on over to your local Walgreens, these items ought to be massively on sale today.
Happy Valentines Day Two Years Ago
I’m swapping out hard drives and cleaning out an email attachments from a program I haven’t used in two years. (Eudora is dead! Long Live Eudora!) and I found these blurry cell phone snaps of some skateboard valentines from 2009.
Skateboarding must be dead
Skateboarding must be dead or dying. What else would explain the drought of marketing tie-ins for a major Hallmark holiday like Valentines Day. In 2008 my son got one lousy sticker of a tiger wearing hearts and riding a skateboard. What about all the Extreme™ valentines of the not too distant past? I feel like Charlie Brown. Here’s hoping for a more Extreme™ Easter.
Oh yeah….
I kind of forgot that it was Valentine’s Day. Check out this small collection of Extreme™ Valentine’s Day stuff from 2002. Surely there is something new to add. Let us know if you got some.
