Corn Man!
Corn Man is currently a big seller over at Obvious Plant, so it’s only fitting that he makes an appearance on a skateboard on multiple t-shirt designs and a “First Edition” Holographic skateboard sticker the has already sold out. Obvious Plant must like skateboarding too, this is the 3rd time they’ve been feature her so they deserve their own tag.
Nerd and Wimps? “No!” I say.
These are part of a set of Northworld Novelties stickers from 1986. No Wimps! No Nerds! I can remember seeing these back in the day and always assumed the were bootlegs but it looks like the actually licensed Wimpy from King Features and the Nerds Candy critters from Sunmark, who owned that brand at the time. These are scans a not photographs which is why the look washed out. Why? Once again, today’s LED scanners are unable to properly reflect neon colors. The true colors are quite vibrant in the group photo though. No Nerds and No Wimps were often seen in the company of the infamous “No Fat Chicks” stickers at the time. – Thanks to Jason Harrison for the pics.
Stickers are For Blockheads
I just added 27 stickers from the collection of Blockhead founder Dave Bergthold to the gallery of Vintage Skateboard Stickers, bring the running total to 541 stickers. The additions are almost entirely Blockhead Skateboards stickers from the 80-90’s. If you’re trying to build your collection, they have some NOS vintage stickers for sale in limited quantities and at NOS vintage prices. You’ll have to pay attention because there are reprints of many old designs, usually in a different size than the original, but the NOS vintage designs are currently at the bottom of the page.
Vintage Skate Sticker Gallery Reaches 400
The count on the Vintage Skate Sticker Gallery has reached 400! The last hundred added span from the 70’s to the 90’s/ Some of the highlights include healthy additions to the Zorlac category as well as some great 70’s era additions to Sims, G&S, Z-flex and Cadillac Wheels. Also of note, some wacky color ways of Independent logos made in the early 80’s.
Vintage Skate Sticker Gallery Reaches 300
Just added another 50 stickers to the Vintage Skate Sticker Gallery, bringing the total to 300. This lates batch spans from the 70-80’s.
Vintage Skate Sticker Gallery Reaches 250
The Vintage Skate Sticker Gallery has just reached 250, and we’re about at the end of Kilwag’s collection. If you’re interested in contributing, we’re accepting high resolution bulk scans if they are 600dpi.) If you have a sizable collection contact us to make other arrangements. Send a pic before you start scanning and we can let you know what we already have waiting (about 200) to be processed.
Neon Babies
Well, by pure luck I was able to find a 15 year old scanner so I could scan these 30 year old stickers. What am I talking about? LED backlit scanners cannot capture neon inks, and big surprise, there were a lot of neon stickers in the 80’s. Shout out to Diesel Fuel Prints for letting me borrow this compact fluorescent backlit artifact. Diesel Fuel is where Skate and Annoy get’s all their stickers printed BTW. The sticker gallery is currently at 151 stickers with about another 100 in my collection alone left to process and add, and another 200 from contributors! Until then, check out these 151 vintage skate stickers. And yes, the post title is a reference.
Stoked!
We are stoked to take your money. Check out these reproductions of an old 70’s skateboarding sticker graphic available in a combo life size sticker and larger than life size embroidered patch. Believe it or not, this project has been in the works for over a decade. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Get yours from Skate and Annoy.
Bernie Shreds
I’ve seen this Bernie Sanders graphic all over Facebook, but because it’s the Interwebs® nobody actually provides a link or a credit. I’m not sure who originally made it, but it looks like you can get it from here. There’s no mention of Bernie getting a cut of the oddly priced ($5.08) stickers. Maybe that’s what the extra 8 cents is for. UPDATE: Looks like they came from Commonwealth.
Skatepark Stickers
Two skatepark stickers from roughly the same era. I’m not exactly sure when the “Surf and Turf” became “The Turf” but it wasn’t until it re-openend in the 80’s after being a strip club for a while. (There was a false floor covering the bowls. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sticker for a contest before, other than this Del Mar Skate Ranch sticker from 1981, which as to be somewhat rare.
