Toxic Merde (and Bacon) BBQ
BBQ at Toxic Skatein Vancouver, Washington on Saturday the 5th. Sponsored by Merde and Bacon.
Toxic Skate bowl
I went to the grand opening of the Toxic Skate shop last weekend to check out the new bowl. It’s really fun, but not without a few flaws. The corners can be unpredictable and the decks are miniscule, but the bowl is fun as hell to ride. The giant wall ride on one half of the long side really makes this bigger than just the sum of it’s parts. The shop is in a small industrial park in Vancouver. lack of traditional neighbors made it easier to get the go ahead to have all ages shows there. It could be a cool little scene. Rich from EPM has some shots from early in the day before it got crowded.
Indoor Portland
Rumor has it that Rip City Skate’s indoor facility will be opening as soon as this weekend. MC saw some progress being made. Built in accordance with legendary Portland miniramp zoning ordinances, this picture doesn’t quite let you know how tight this spot is. It’s going to be challenging, but fun. I still haven’t made to Epic yet. I need to check both of these out. Enlarge-o-rama.
More indoor fun near Portland. Toxic Skate
There’s a rash of new indoor skate facilities in the greater Portland area. You might remember the Toxic Skate pen made from used skateboard decks earlier this year. Toxic Skates in Vancouver, Washington has a new location with a recently completed bowl. Grand opening is this Saturday at 12:00. Some Bacon dudes will be there. A couple bowl pics, the flyer and the trailer for the upcoming Bacon video Unheard, after the jump.
Saturday on Sunday
This is a photo of Jeremy Davis taken by Richie McCorkle. The real reason for this is to point to a video of an event that Saturday Skateboards in Charlotte, NC recently had, called the Saturday on Sunday party. They’ve got an indoor skatepark with some great art on the walls. The party had live music, skateboarding and shenanigans. This is one of those things where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. I don’t know if it’s the audio track or what, but the whole thing made me smile. If you aren’t from North Carolina and the name Saturday Skateboards ring a bell, it may be because we had a team rider photo as a Shot of the Week last summer.
